Place the United States

It’s those damn midwestern states in a big blank space that get you.

I got stuck on Texas and gave up.

Order’s everything. While I know where Lichenstein is, do you have any idea how hard it is to place it without Switzerland, Germany, Italy, or Austria on the map to give you an idea of scale?

I got 41/44 on it. Average of 16 miles off.

39/44. Kind of hard to start off with Moldova and Austria. Got those wrong along with Malta, Andorra and Liechenstein. 82 miles off. When I was wrong, I was really wrong.

Did you try the European one where you have to rotate the countries before you put them into place? 86%!

[sub]woulda done better if I hadn’t lost Slovenia…

That’s exactly the problem I had with the US map. The first state I got was Arkansas. I know where it is, but having Texas or Kansas on the board first would have helped a little bit. I got it mostly in the correct footprint, but there was this big glaring chunk of red and I was 30 miles off.

Nitpicking map Nazis.

I’m going to have to go try the Europe map.

i played this game a little while back, and i got perfect score – 100%, 0 miles off, and i’m canadian.

now wheres that screenshot…

i guess posting images is a no-no, here’s the linky

Don’t worry, I don’t think anyone will miss it.

Huh! I did the Europe one. Well, I’m not done it yet. I had to go look at the CIA World Factbook. I had NO idea there was a country called San Marino. Never heard of it. EVER! Whaddya know…a little bit of ignorance was fought and beaten today.

Just knocked off the Asia one, 44 out of 47. Got Bhutan, Azerbaijan and Bahrain wrong. Off by 43 miles average.

Ugh 82% 41 miles.

/back to school

How in hell am I supposed to do this when I get Lichtenstein right out of the box? Then I get the Czech Republic and Switzerland which is a pain in the ass because I have to try to triangulate things (Well… Poland is roughly here, and Germany is about here…). Then I get … ANDORRA!? Shit, I’m screwed.

I did much better with Asia and Central and South America, although I was shocked about how far off I was with Bangladesh.

I’ll freely admit that Africa kicked my ass all hollow.

86%. Those North-Eastern states are a bugger!

Oy. I only got 90% avg error 21 miles.

Like everything else wrong with this country: I blame Arkansas.

I got 100% on the US one. I had to place Missouri all by itself, too.

47/50, avg 21 miles error, another Canuck

I got Colorado and Arkansas before I had any reference points, and had them both off by about their own sizes. And then had to guess with Iowa, but was only off by a bit.

The European one is evil. (40/44, avg 29 miles) It gave me all the tiny little ones first. And I had to google FYROM - once I knew what it stood for, I knew pretty much where it was, but talk about your opaque acronyms.

Damn. I only missed one on Asia but it was a doozy. For some reason, I couldn’t think and thought Bahrain was a Southeast Asian country instead of Middle Eastern and I tried putting it where Singapore is.

And I hate Bolivia. Goddamned landlocked countries with no coastline to help me out. It’s the only one I missed on South America.

I’m not even going to attempt Africa.

Another Canadian: 74%, average error 84 miles, 306 sec. I totally suck!
:mutters sulkily: we should make one for Canada, see how well those Americans do…

It’s rather childish but it’s the best I could find. 115/120.

Saskatchewan was my only miss.

That site also has an Australia map.

65/70 although I admit that was mostly out of blind luck… the only ones I knew for sure were Tasmania and the obviously named Northern Territory, South Australia, and Western Australia.
