I’m looking to get the hell out of town after I get the boards overwith, and I’m thinking about Key West. I was there last year, and loved it.
I stayed in a pretty crappy chain hotel last time, though. There are so many little guest houses and inns down there that I’m sure I can do better. Anyone know of a good place down there?

Gosh, I am surprised you didn’t get the name of some of the places when you were there last time. But of course those are the kinds of things you think of when you get home.
I don’t recall the names of anything, but there are several real nice hotels at the most western side of the Key, not too far from where Mel Fisher’s Museum is. I think if you did a search on one of the search engines like Metacrawler with words like “Key West” and Hotels you might find some of them.
Enjoy it, whereever you stay. Key West is one of my favorite places.
Yeah, I wish I had looked around for some places when I was down there last time, but as you say, I didn’t think about it until I got home.
How hot is in in Key West in June? I’m thinking pretty hot, since that’s when all the hotel prices go down and I found round-trip airfare from Cincinnati to Ft. Lauderdale for $108. I’ll still take Really Really Hot in Key West over Really Hot and Muggy, the usual June climate in Kentucky.
when I was there the end of February and early March, we stayed at the Blue Lagoon Resort - 3101 N. Roosevelt Blvd This is not in town, but that’s one thing I liked about it. It was quiet, but just a short drive to Duval. It’s not a chain hotel. We had an end unit near the water (an inlet of the gulf); there were a couple of geese who lived there I got fond of and fed every day. Sliding glass doors leading out to a patio where we’d sit and read or just relax, with the water about 50 yds away (although apparently no swimming in this particular spot). It was also within walking distance of a laundromat, gas stations, and small shopping centers. They have an outdoor pool too. When we did the ghost tour in town, there were a couple of haunted inns on the tour that I’d be interested in staying at, but I don’t remember the names.
