Planet Explorers (PC)

I saw it advertised on Steam a few months back and it’s been on my wishlist since. It went on sale a few days ago to 40% off, so I snagged it.

It’s basically sort of Minecraft with much better graphics. Except that it focuses more on quests and adventuring, although the building and crafting options are very robust. I think you can make a huge variety of vehicles. Make what you want and slap on some wheels basically.

The game is still in beta, but seems pretty far along (it is on version .83). It seems fun so far, but has crashed a lot for me. They did release an update today, which I am downloading right now. Hopefully the update will fix my crash issues and allow me to get into the game in-depth and get pretty deep.

I’ve fallen in love with Terraria and similar games, and this seems to be right in that wheelhouse. I can’t wait to delve deep into the buildings and vehicles, it looks like there is tons of potential to get creative with your creations. The game does have an adventure mode, which I gather is basically a sandbox, and some multiplayer but I don’t know how in depth it will be.
Has anyone else been playing? Any thoughts?

I looked at this back in March, and with your post I’m now considering it again; my finger is over the trigger, reading through some Steam reviews.

I liked Minecraft (but burnt out), and like survival+build type games; The Forest is an early access that I’m currently playing, but it has very limited build/crafting; I’ve also enjoyed, to some extent, State of Decay and similar games. I’m also in-and-out of Landmark (part of the EverQuest world) and Space Engineers.

Does it sound like this was made for me?

Oh well…in the 10 minutes between composing/editing my post and pushing Add To Cart the sale ended.

Ah that sucks. Well, it’s not final yet and there will be more content added so no harm in waiting. I just snagged it because it finally went on sale and I didn’t want to pass it up again.

There is a new small patch I’m downloading now so hopefully that will fix things and i can get more in depth with it. If so I’ll post some more impressions.

It looks like something I’d enjoy, but I don’t do early access. I’ll be sure to check it out when it’s more complete.
