Planet of the Apes; female gorillas or orangutans?

Did any of the Planet of the Apes films or TV series ever show a female gorilla or orangutan? I remember several female chimpanzees (Zira, Lisa, etc), but no other apes.

Didn’t Marky Mark go running through an Orangutan’s bedroom when his wife was swinging from a chandelier? I seem to remember she was an Orang, too.

Oddly, I’m watching it on AMC right now. I’ll report back if I notice any.

Would we realize they were suppose to be female? I think there was a cartoon too.

Not that the Tim Burton film counts as a real POTA film (it would be an OK movie if it had been named Simian World), but AFAIR, No, not even in that one.

Good question!

I’m still pissed that Marky Mark never even took his shirt off. I too was watching the original on AMC and noticed at least one other female chimp; in the natural history museum Taylor runs into a mother and child.

Looks to me like female orangutans have boobs . Since Planet of the Apes has dcoumentary-like accuracy, I’d say no, there are no female orangutans in the movie.

I don’t know from the remake, but weren’t the chimpanzees the only apes with anything like a progressive outlook in the original movies? If so, it makes sense that they would be the only group whose females had any sanction for putting themselves forward and accomplishing things on the outside. The orangs, as rule-mongering patriarch-scribes, and the gorillas with their aspirations to Bluto-hood, seem more like the sort who’d expect their she-apes to stay home peeling fruit and minding little Pongo and Peanuts.

I do have vague but distinct memories of one episode of the TV show which involved a gorilla family, including Mama, who lived on a farm…
