Who did you run with? I have been joining the SOTO squads - seam to have good coordination and a reasonable crew but did seam a bit “ghost cappy” and didn’t fall back to cover some choke points wehre all the capped territory got cut off.
My biggest improvement in K/D ratio was finally getting the two attachments for my Bull that reduced recoil (rail grip and muzzle thingy) and ditching the 3x sight and going for the 1x red dot.
I can now put more than one shot in the same place.
FTR the jump seat on the Flash is a great way to get motion sickness.
It was an EXE squad. I will mention that it started out not stupid, stayed not stupid for most the night, but I turned in shortly after the non-stupid people logged off for the night and stupid people took over and did (and said) a lot of stupid shit.
It’s going to be a double XP weekend, so we should play a lot. They’re also going to have a one time sale this weekend of “heroic” xp boosts - instead of lasting a week, they last 3 or 6 months. Cost 3000 and 5000sc respectively. Which is actually pretty cheap if you regularly buy boosts. I wouldn’t buy SC at 1:1 for it, but if you have leftover SC from the 3x sale it’d end up being like $2/mo for a boost.
Heliosi s going to get merged with Connery, which is good, it’ll fix some of the faction imbalances (well NC will still rule everything, but TR will hit 30% more often) and it’ll give us more consistent fights on continents other than Indar.
They’re also going to be doing a double SC and double XP weekend this weekend.
TR is consistently highest pop on Connery. Not as much as a few patches ago, when the game was Prowlers 24/7, but they still top 40% on a regular basis, despite being currently exiled to the crap corner of Indar. Connery’s NC pop spikes for few hours here and there due to a couple giant outfits, but on a general basis, it’s about 3/4ths TR’s pop.
Connery Indar hits queues regularly for TR, and for NC when the outfits are on (thus, they tend to own Esamir & Amerish). VS has even been hitting queues lately, despite being one of the lowest VS servers. There will be major spillover into the other two continents, come merge time. Should be keen. I haven’t seen any real fighting on Amerish since the beta.
(oh, and FWIW, pretty much every kitted Vanguard on Connery can be expected to have the shield. Seems weird that you haven’t been seeing it, it’s omnipresent over here.)
TR pop on Helios is by far the lowest, usually in the 25-27% range, often down to 22%, so the TR boost from Connery will be nice. The end result is still going to be 40% NC because both servers have a ton of NC.
On helios you see vanguard shields like once every 50 fights, even still. Connery players are significantly better on average than helios players.
Base turrets even more dangerous, Max nerfs. Looks like we will be getting more XP every 25 kills. New timed capture the continent missions. Even if you don’t capture the continent you’ll still get XP based on what percentage your faction has.
Game was actually pretty stable last night, not a lot of lag for me. Usually after a patch it’s a mess. I did have two squad-mates with problems, one couldn’t get the shield on his Vanguard to work, the other’s nanoweave armour didn’t seem to be working. Logging out and back in seemed to fix both. Shotguns didn’t seem terribly nerfed.
Good day for daily sales. Each faction’s 2nd submachine gun (PDW) is on sale. Hailstorm is better than the first TR one, 350sc. If you’re a subscriber, the long range sniper rifle (rams 50) is also on sale.
Anyone playing on Mattherson? I’m playing there and quickly finding out that this game kind of sucks if you’re on your own. Anyone in an outfit? I’m a team player. Definitely loving this game, though. Just subscribed for 6 months (the perks seemed worth it to me). Plus, that ended up being a little bit over the $60 you would expect to pay for a game like that anyway.
Play medic or engineer and heal/repair people and after a while you will likely get invited. I also got an invite by jumping into a Liberator at a warpgate as a gunner, having a mic, and being a good communicator.
I haven’t joined any outfits. I like simply using the Instant Action button on the map, and the hitting the Insert key to auto-join a nearby squad. And then heading toward the squad beacon and helping to take whatever objectives are nearby.
That’s what I’ve been doing. I don’t like instant action as much (I like to hang out around smaller-scale incursions, or at least what the map perceives to be smaller scale). I’ve been in a few squads where I was with the platoon leader and it was fun working with everyone as a concentrated assault. Some of the huge sieges on the cap points are pretty awesomely intense. It’s fun hiding a Sunderer behind a rock near a cap point and watching people just get totally blown away while you hurriedly run around healing and rezzing. Good times.
So until now, I haven’t really done much with this game. I’ve hopped on whenever Beef and the others were fooling around, but haven’t really PLAYED. I logged on today, expecting to do my usual thing, and happened to notice that Esamir had an alert going on. I joined a five-squad platoon, which was cool on its own; I’ve never seen the grey squad color before. We proceeded to kick some serious ass in one of the corners of the continent while getting our ass handed to us on the other; lots of fun, especially once we went as far as we could go and fought back and forth over the same two or three building clusters for almost an hour. I think my gameplay really benefited from this run; I killed at least a dozen NC tanks, a bunch more lightnings, and a few liberators with my Heavy rocket launcher and Light claymore.
So, I earned quite a few certs. I spent pretty much everything I had the night before, so I started today with 12; I logged out after the event with 120. And I’m wondering what to buy! I have all of the basic unit upgrades, decent scopes on all of my guns, and the AA Max guns. I think I’m ready to work on vehicles. My wish list is,
Liberator Zephyr
Mosquito Hellfire Rockets
Prowler deploy; debating getting the HE or AP rounds as well? From what I hear, HEAT is pretty much best
Sunderer Deploy
Eventually, I plan on unlocking all of these; however, if any one of them will make it much easier to get certs I’d grab that one first.
A bonus question for those of you who know more about this game than me, what are good secondary weapons for the Sunderer and Prowler? And is there any tail gun in the Liberator that I should look at, or is Zephyr+Tankbuster nose gun enough to dominate?
My experience ( which is almost certainly dominated by me being a crap player) is that the mozzie certs are a total sink until you can get the hover airframe fully maxed out and the flak armour fully maxed out.
In the early days the rocket pods ( or LoLpods as they seam to be known) combined with the terrible base defense layouts made the ESF ( empire specific fighters) cert combine harvesters ( I recall SenorBeef predicted that getting air in eraly before itnwas nerfed was a good idea) . The improvements in Infantry air defense and armor air defense have meant that the ESF need to be fully maxed out in hover ( hence aiming) and robustness against ground fire if the pilot wants to be able to cert farm infantry. Taking on armor is a hazardous affair unless you can find a poorly placed sundy.
So investing certs in your mozzie may be a long payoff.
That said this is a cooperative game and air power seams to be being played as a highly individual role, occasionally I have seen some big air raids come in , but mostly ones or twos that get strikered very quickly, so maybe the key to mozzies not being a massive cert sink is to get cooperative.
Or maybe I am just crap in a Mozzie.
I cant speak to Libs or armor, I have focused my certs on my HA, medic and engineer, and am certing up my Mozzie because it gives me the opportunity to blast out Leaning to Fly as I repeat another controlled descent into terrain.
