Warp to another continent. Go to the map page, and look in the upper left corner. There’s three continents to choose from. It’s unlikely your faction is losing ground on all three.
Here’s a great tip for more kill credits. When you see an enemy without a red icon, hit the Q key. You’ll tag them with a red target icon and put them on the minimap, and you’ll get bonus points if they get killed within some time.
To those of you that took advantage of the 2 for 1 cash deal yesterday, I highly recommend getting the zepher turret for the liberator. We play liberator together a lot and the zepher turret just makes it much more fun.
It’s a 105mm cannon with 5 rounds per magazine - it is brutal to infantry. If you fly over one of those huge infantry fights, you could rack up 20 kills in 10 seconds.
With vehicles, it’s whoever spawns the vehicle that determines its loadout, so it would help if a few of us got a zepher, since we end up switching around who spawns it while we wait for the spawn timer to reset on whoever got the last one.
It’s probably the most fun upgrade in the game, and we’d definitely use it, so if you’ve got the SC points, grab it.
What happened to our Mumble server?
Switched providers. New mumble server is silverbolt*bluefangsolutions.com 32768 replace the * with a dot.
We actually were - not just on all three, but on all six of my two different characters on two different servers. Next time I logged on it was back to normal though with a lot more balanced fights, no idea what caused that TR dominance.
Unless there’s a massive disparity in server population, what you could do is gather a few people and go conquer something deep within enemy territory almost unopposed. The current strategy seems to be “form a massive column and send it raping and pillaging one point after another.” It’s not unusual to capture a point, move on to the next only to see the first point captured to fall to someone else 10 minutes later.
Just to give some props to sony support. I bought a zepher for 700 SC and then the vehicle starter pack came out that included the Zepher and ton of other stuff for 2000. I asked if I could get a refund in order to buy the pack (and not pay twice) and I was 95% sure they were gonna say LOL READ PARAGRAPH 19 OF OUR EULA CHACHING CHACHING, but they actually gave me the SC back. So good on them. They did say it’s a courtesy and they don’t always do it.
I have 2 videos up and I’m working on more.
I have a fairly pimped-out Liberator now, and we had some fun last night flying around and blowin’ shit up real good. Also dying horribly.
But the flying is getting more comfortable. Hooray!
Yeah, we’ve been having a lot of fun with liberators. If we get 3 people together with geared liberators, we can continuously keep spawning them and swapping roles. The CAS antitank gun for the pilot seat is a worthwhile unlock for IIRC 100 certs (don’t bother with the SC cost since it’s cheap in certs). Not sure if the A30 antiair tail gun is worth it.
But yeah I’m going to spend some certs to unlock some liberator goodness - flares, nano repair, maybe a performance upgrade, and it’d be nice if a few others did too.
I should add that we should enjoy air power now, because as the game goes on more people will unlock the stuff they need to fight aircraft. So let’s play the hell out of it while the golden age lasts.
I have 100 certs to spend. I was thinking either the compensator for vertical recoil or the handle the lessen horizontal recoil.
Any experience with either?
I got the basic upgrades and scopes for my 2 favorite classes, light and heavy. I’ll save up for airplanes now. And learn to fly…
I don’t use the word “epic” to describe games very often, but this game is epic. The scope of the map and some of the battles is just amazing. It ranges from lonely outposts that never see action to being part of a 20 vehicle column traveling to an outpost to huge battles with dozens or more people. One battle I was in last night in a desert canyon facility had more aircraft than I had seen before at once, they were everywhere.
I was having a persistent crash problem, every 20 minutes or so. Finally found where someone suggested letting Steam re-validate the files. It found 100+ files, 3 gigabytes that it needed to download. Been flawless since.
I figured out how to deploy a Sunderer, you have to unlock the capability and then add it to your loadout for the vehicle before you spawn it. Everything you unlock you have to add to your loadout, nothing seems to be added to your loadout automatically. Then when deployed the Sunderer becomes a mobile spawn point. I was able to create a Sunderer and drive it near a battle, I stayed with it and kept getting 2 XP every time someone spawned at it. As an Engineer I also healed it when it got shot and got XP for that, and manned the guns to defend it. The sunderers also aren’t bad for shooting aircraft, although if you’re fighting more than one skilled pilot at a time you are toast unless a lot of engineers are fixing you.
Then I rode around with a random guy in a tank and got 1000XP for being at a big facility that got capped. Then we drove to another couple and got 250 xp and 100 at another, something like that. Just for being on the blitzkreig wave. I still haven’t figured out the difference between just holding the A, B, C control points and really owning a facility.
It’s free to play but I don’t feel like I’m at a big disadvantage for not paying. If I’m toe-to-toe with someone my success rate isn’t that great, but if I stay with a group and fulfill my role the XP flows and the group does better too. If nothing else I will give them $10 or $20 just for the effort that went into the game, and the unlocks will be a nice bonus.
You guys that are playing with us but not posting to the thread should hook up with us in game. Add SenorBeef to your friends list on TR on Genudine and I’ll get you into our outfit. You should set up mumble and join us there too.
I made a long video showing a huge battle we were in for about 2 hours. The quality isn’t up to my normal level for videos, but it’s good enough to marvel at it. We actually went through a day/night/day cycle defending the Crown from attacks from both other factions, and we spent most of the time cut off. We just kept blasting the shit out of them and eventually we pushed them back.
We had about 8 SDMBers coordinating on mumble, but because I recorded using the in-game recorder, you can’t hear it.
I think the way it works is that when the attackers holds control points, the faction control meter (which may be on the left of your screen ingame or when clicking on the region on the map) of the defending faction gradually goes down. When it’s at zero, the faction control meter of the attacking faction goes up. When it’s at 100%, the attacking faction acquires the zone. It can take a while and be quite boring when you clearly got it but must wait several minutes doing nothing.
It’s got to be slow enough to give the defending faction a chance to respond, but they did change it just before release to speed up depending on how many people you have in the zone. An uncontested capture is pretty quick now compared to the previous mechanic, which simply issued your side a certain number of tickets per control point held per period of time. If you held all three control points, it didn’t matter if there was 100 people or 1 at the base, it would just tick steadily away.
Either way, an uncontested cap is a free 500+ XP, so I generally don’t sneeze at it.
The influence you have around a hex combined with how many of the capture points you own and how many people at each point (up to a maximum) determine capture rate.
That little pie graph you see above the minimap is influence. If you surround a sector and have 100% influence, you’ll capture quickly. If you only have one hex touching the sector you’re trying to capture, you’ll capture very slowly.
And if you have no hexes touching the sector at all, you’ll be there all day.
If you’re having trouble getting the game to run at decent frame rates, I’m told this ini file makes things run faster.
