Planned Parenthood defunded in NH!

It’s ridiculous that of all the issues in this country that badly need attention, this is what the rabid right is focusing on to get people distracted from their lack of ideas about everything else. Because it’s very clear to anyone paying attention that they don’t actually give a shit about “life.”. They don’t even attempt to hide their hypocrisy with regard to the whole thing.

If the rabid right loves God’s little angels so much, and have such reverence for all those lives, why would they do these things?

Tried to cut funding for the WIC program that provides food, formula, breastfeeding and postpartum support, parenting classes, and other services for low income PREGNANT women, infants, and children

Try to cut social programs for low income families–you know, food, housing, basic medical care

Fight against sex education in schools in favor of abstinence only education (which has been proven ineffective)

And the list goes on and on. If they took all the time, effort, and fat cash away from fighting against places like PP instead of using those things to shut it down, the impact could be great.

If their goal is to make it so no one ever needs an abortion, wouldn’t it stand to reason that they’d want to help prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first place? And the way that’s done is through comprehensive sex ed., and increasing access to contraception, especially in low income areas where there are fewer doctor’s offices and clinics.

And if they want low income women to make the choice to keep their unplanned pregnancies it only makes sense to increase access to prenatal care and postpartum services. Hell, since those little lives are so precious they could help increase access to parenting classes and affordable childcare options and programs that encourage further education and job opportunities.

Those are the christian things to do, right??

We all know the right will NEVER do any of that, and that’s why they need to shut up about abortion, stop trying to put ridiculous hurdles in front of this safe, LEGAL procedure. And finally, stay the fuck out of our bedrooms and leave a woman’s choice between her and whoever she chooses to share it with.

The GOP needs to put up or shut up, and stop fucking with our LIVES as a political power play.

aa

No luck with that getting laid thing, huh?

We need to get away from the mindset of " whatever, doesn’t matter, the state will take care of my sorry ass. I have no personal responsibility."

@flickster -

The issue at hand is the defunding of Planned Parenthood because they perform abortions.

The claim is that taxpayer funds shouldn’t be paying for abortions.

They perform abortions which are** privately funded** (this appears to be true, from what I’ve read) - something that conservatives and libertarians should be championing. Charity is a fine thing, forced charity is not so fine.

So, the basic premise used to stop funding for Planned Parenthood is flawed from the get go.

If they simply want to stop funding for Planned Parenthood because they perform abortions at all, then they need to sack up and say so.

This is not particularly on point for this thread, but I just wanted to take this opportunity, given the plethora of posts you’ve offered up in the past few days (at least, I’ve noticed your name attached to more steaming shit-piles recently than I recall in the past) to inform you as to what level of smoking dumbass you really are.

And that level is 11.

Awww, that’s cute. You think the right wing has any principles other than getting into power and staying there.

And making sure nobody who makes more than $1 million a year takes any responsibility for the stability of society.

What, “exactly”? Who takes care of an orphaned unwed mother on her own? Do you not read more then the first two sentences of a paragraph?

An odd criticism for people who are getting birth control pills and condoms from Planned Parenthood. You may be angry about paying for them with taxpayer money, but it really isn’t a lack of personal responsibility now, is it? Why does helping somebody without getting something in return make you grind your teeth so?

That’s not a solution, that’s a campaign slogan.

Funnily enough, he IS getting something in return (fewer children on AFDC, WIC, EBT etc., which he also doesn’t want to pay for), and he’s still cranky.

Basically he’s just cranky, and lives in fear that someone, somewhere, even someone less “deserving” than him, might have a life with a little joy in it, and not a pathetically, desperately grabby and miserable existence like his.

Hardly. It’s perfectly legitimate to complain about where your tax dollars are spent. If you don’t believe that the public coffers should be subsidizing things like birth control, then you have a real complaint.

Personally, I have a bigger problem with subsidized Viagra use.

You haven’t encountered flicky much, have you?

We got off onto this tangent with the comments regarding something being free when in reality it was at the taxpayer’s expense.

Carry on, i’ll drop the hijack

Condoms aren’t free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don’t all chip in
We’ll never pay that bill
Condoms aren’t free
No, there’s a hefty fuckin’ fee.
And if you don’t throw in your buck 'o five
Who will?

To be fair, I haven’t encountered “Diany” much either.

Wait, what?

My wife got free Viagra, but it was subsidized by Pfizer.

Yep. Subsidized Viagra use. Because ostensibly erectile dysfunction is a “disorder.” And birth control is not subsidized because pregnancy isn’t. You hadn’t heard about that?
