Try http://www.trivialpursuit.com/rules.html if you want to sample the new edition of the game. I managed to collect all but the People and Places wedge in the alloted time, but I think I’ll give it another bash, I’m on lunch after all…
I didn’t get the green one… Damn Sports to hell! gotta try again…
Well, in modesty I must credit this to luck, insofar as I happened to get questions I could answer. But I did get all the wedges on my first play. I had a total of 4 wrong answers along the way.
That was incredibly easy. I imagine they make it that easy so that people like me will think that they are really smart and run out and buy the game. Right? I missed 3 total, and the baseball question I got half right.
Easy. But I expect nothing less from Trivial Pursuit. I play Trivia in Yahoo chat, but thats pretty hit-or-miss on question type and quality.
The baseball question saved my ass or I would have missed the green piece, I’d already missed the first 2 sports questions. Was your baseball quesiton about the 30-30 club too? Do they ask the same questions over and over?
::Tengu dances around the room.::
Got 'em all.
Got 5 wrong answers (PP - didn’t know what a Katzenjammer was, SN - the Earthquake surprised me, SL - 2 wrong, Baseball and Football…got Horse Racing - sports suck, so I don’t really care about those, WC - Didn’t know where the Leaning Tower of Piza leaned.), but, like, I stil say I kick ass.
Same 3 questions everytime.
Damn, I only went 6 out of 7.
Ok, I think there’s something wrong here.
I got, in the blue category(I think-may have been yellow) "What held it’s first plenary session in (some building) in San Francisco in (month?) 1945.
I, having no idea at all, type in “The Freakin’ nuns”. And it said I was right. Then gave me the answer. The United Nations. Ok… makes perfect sense to me.
I got all the others first try, and did manage to get all the wedges. I would have gotten a different one on the above category right, but I had no chance to.
Added italics. See if you can guess why it decided that was the right answer.
It asked “what is the only insect to make a product that humans consume?”
My perverted brain goes to very unobvious answer; beetles, since a confectioner’s glaze is excreted from some kinds of beetles. (http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_118.html)
I enter beetles, and it says “Correct! Honeybees!”
So:
-
I found an error in the Trivial Pursuit questions (Honeybees are obviously not the only insect that produces a product consumed by humans)
-
The engine that analyzes the answer isn’t very good.
Woohoo got all of them. Even with baseball and American Football questions. Lucky with the horse question. Quite easy really. I wonder how you lot would fair with the British( I don’t know if there is a Irish ) version
:: Waiting for one of the British posters to come in around now ::
I missed Sports and Leisure because I answered the question:
What day is every thoroughbred’s birthday with January first. It wasn’t taken as correct; shoulda been January 1.
Bummer! that’s about the ONLY sports answer I know!
Got all them pretty little wedges, and I only missed one question (sports) doing it.
