I’ll admit I don’t tend to watch many older movies, but I just finished The Mark of Zorro with Basil Rathbone and Tyrone Power-wow! Especially the swordfight. A friend mentioned it to me and I was hesitant, but it was quite good.
I don’t particularly care for Van Johnson but I was too lazy to change the channel and ended up watching The Romance of Rosy Ridge on TCM. I still don’t like Van Johnson but that was one fine little movie. Very realistic, for 1947, and I got to see how hay was harvested in 1865.
It’s from a novel by MacKinley Kantor.
While watching the movie “That Thing You Do” I kept waiting for the awful bad thing to happen and it never did. Aside from the obvious (spoiler, they break up) there are no race riots or scamming managers or anything like that.
Good flick.
