Apparently, “this is so the calendar appears correct to you.” Since the calendar is disabled at present…what’s this all about?
Since we’re not currently using the function, how it appears doesn’t matter, does it?
In the notice in “Announcements” we mentioned that there were all sorts of things in this new version of vB and that over time we might see some of them.

Let me just say (I swear, this is not sucking up to the mods) that there is some pretty funky stuff planned for the Board, if all the features are going to be fully activated. I can’t wait to start up my avatar!
I’m not in a position to know, but if the “Avatar” option is what I think it is, it’s probably safe to say that it will never be turned on. As I understand it, it means that you can take a picture from some Web address, and ascociate it with your username, so that whenever you post, it shows up, right? Well, think of all the reasons we don’t have the image tag… And now think of images attached to every post.
Chronos - are you saying you wouldn’t want to see a grinning Arnold Winkelried under my name? I’m hurt.
Duke - Just in case you didn’t know (not that it applies directly to your question), on european calendars, Monday shows up as the first day of the week, which is only right and proper.
Arnold: I suppose you’re right (well, for most European calendars anyway…). The request just made it sound like there were “cultures” in the Borneo jungle or whatnot where the week started on a Wednesday…
Chronos: I agree that an image like Arnold suggested would be way too large to download if everyone had one. But what about allowing from only a pre-selected group of images?

Duke, the sdmb staff has been discussing what to do with the new features for a long time now. We do have long-term plans concerning them.

And you would be famous for using a mattress. Just depends on what you’re doing with it.
Yup. Here’s a typical example of how it’s implemented on my vBulletin-based bulletin board. Okay if you have traffic like me – usually 20 or 25 users, max. With SDMB level traffic, it would increase page download times and bog down the server.
