You may view them or not, as you wish as well. This is controlled in in your User Control Panel (User CP hyperlink in the blue band across the top of every SDMB page), select “EDIT OPTIONS,” look under “Thread Display Options,” and click the box by “Show avatars.”

Is there some reason why there is so much space between the avatar and the username?

The newer theme has a space, the old theme doesn’t.

The picture is generally as wide as “today” is above it and then the username doesn’t start until the “PM”, generally.

I just tried to set one (I had to resize it to fit the dimension limits first) and it says upload of file failed?

Yup, mine did too. But hey look, it worked anyway!

Seems to be the answer these days- if it’s a glitch it’s the new theme.

Actually, I just switched themes a couple of times, and now there is no space.

I find I am certainly posting a lot more since avatars were enabled. If you include this post, that makes a total of once today!

Do you know which option on that site I would use to resize an image to fit the Dope’s size constraints? I’m trying to make my picture a little bigger.

I just used paint. Resize. Click pixels. Type in 50. Save.

I used picresize.com, it seems easier.
