Please explain the appeal of clothing and shoe collections!

My new favorite catalog is Boston Proper. http://www.bostonproper.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/BPBrowseCatalog?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=20044&offerId=3C&subcatIdx=3
I’m wearing the floral skirt and orange sweater right now. I just love it!

Ooo - very pretty! Very fresh looking.

I’m always a tad leery to order from catalogues - there sizing always seems wacked - the stuff arrives and it’s too big - I know you can return it but that’s kind of a hassle.

But very nice all the same.

I do almost all my shopping out of catalogs. The sizing seems to be pretty good these days (at least for me). And the stuff hasn’t been picked through like stuff in the store. I do end up sending stuff back sometimes, but it beats trudging around the mall. I like to see how stuff looks on a model rather than on a hanger.

I don’t know whether to thank you or curse you. I had never heard of the Santana shoes before - but I just took a look, and I am in love. They are the kind of shoes I love - sexy, flirty - perfect with a little skirt! They are also the shoes that I fall in love with and buy - and very rarely wear. Darn it - I want them all!

I knew it would be trouble to bring up that site! They’re all scrumptious! I can’t wait to see what his fall line looks like!

Oh dear - it appears I’m fueling addictions here.

As for me, I need to replace a couple of my rattier-looking jeans. I’m putting it off because I hate to shop. We’ll see how it goes.

Ooooh…I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…Victoria’s Secret has the best jeans. And I believe they’re on sale right now.

Ah, but Vicki doesn’t carry Wide Load jeans, do they?

FCM - Try Marithe & Francois Girbaud’s [url=“http://www.mobiusnm.com/girbaud/minimalfive.html”]Minimal Five Jean** - they’re nice for, um - plumber bottoms.

I have em, I have a plum bottom, I dig em.

oops

I think it falls along the same lines as “Some people live to eat. Others eat to live.”

I can’t go to work naked, or in my pajamas so I have to shop a little. I found a pair of pants I like at Lands End and bought 4 pair. Ditto a shirt. (I got the shirt in more different colors) It’s essentially a uniform. More than shopping for clothes I hate my mom’s morning ritual of “What should I wear today?” followed by trying on 3 separate outfits. The pants are lined up in my closet. The shirts in a stack in my dresser. I got rid of all the bras that didnt’ look good (invisible. : no straps showing or buckle bumps) Everything goes with everything. If my hair is clean I can be on the road to work five minutes after opening my eyes in the morning.

If I were to throw a party with my best friend she would agonize over what to wear for about the same amount of time I would spend creating some fabulous dessert. I will look at her and think, “Why does it matter if she wears the cropped top or the peasant blouse? She’s equally stunning in both. Just pick one and be done.” She will see me unmolding something and think, “Why bother. People would be just as happy with something from the bakery.” Different priorities.
