Please explain this license plate to me..

In Florida, the State License Bureau does not allow this plate because it is deemed objectionable, or offensive:

GU812

I don’t get it. What’s it trying to say?

It’s saying:
Gee, you ate one too.

I’m not sure why that’s offensive

Gee, you ate one too.

Must be some type of oral sex reference.

Van Halen album?
Drugs.

The name of the Van Halen album is OU812; it was released in 1988. (“Oh, you ate one too.”) Could be a sex reference, for all I know.

I first heard “OICU812.” Always thought of it as a sort of kid’s joke, like you ate a worm or dog turd or some such.

“OICU812” didn’t have any off-color significance when I first it. It was just a moderately clever way of expressing all the words in a grammatically correct sentience by using single characters.

Of course, these days I find the use of “r” for “are” and “u” for “you” to be hateful signs of blatant ignorance and I despise the losers who compulsively use them in internet chats.

I agree with U on that 1.

And furthermore, didn’t Alanis Morissette have a song called ‘Thank U’? What the hell is that? Some poet! I suppose my sense of irony is ill-equipped to understand this.

Don’t feel bad. Alanis Morissette’s sense of irony was ill-equipped to understand the word irony before she wrote a song called Ironic.

So, from what I gather, the reference may or may not be to an album that many in the public would be unaware of anyway.
Yeesh.

I wonder how many auto accidents there are each year caused by people trying to figure out cryptic license plates…?
Cheers.

Who knows how many there are? It has to be at least a contributing factor in a few accidents, you’d think. Time to sharpen up those rebus skills you’ve never really used since grade school!

"And furthermore, didn’t Alanis Morissette have a song called ‘Thank U’? What the hell is that? "

I thought EVERYONE knew that Alanis was a scholar of
United Nations history. If you examine the lyrics to
that song you’ll see that it’s actually in praise of U Thant, Secretary General of the U.N. 1962-72.

I saw on Fark (I think it was Fark) recently that Florida wants a man to give up his license plate that says “ATHIEST”.

He misspelled it!?

Quasi

Thus the irony.
