I’ve seen one or two TV commercials where they play this song. Unfortunately my memories of it are rather vague; all I can say is that it’s done in a very traditional style. It could even be compared to cowboy songs in its style, though it doesn’t appear to be the relatively famous “Home Grown Tomatoes” by cowboy singer Guy Clark.
If I can get a quick answer to this it would really help me out. I’m working on a project from my C# programming class in which we’re supposed to set up a form for selling vegetables. I’ve already got a pretty picture of various forms of edible plant life, but it just occurred to me it’d be a hoot if I can have that “Tomatoes” song play in the background when the form first loads.
Oh yeah, and it’d help get a good grade, but it’s not part of project spec so you won’t be helping me with my homework.
It’s not that I particularly like the song, it’s just that I find it bizarrely humorous that somebody wrote a song about tomatoes. I think it would be funny as background music to the Windows Form application I am writing.
And by the way, I forgot to give the few lyrics I can remember:
“Tomatoes, ripened on the vine, tomatoes…”
If there were an easy way to write out the notes on here I would.
