Please help me find a good general history of post-Soviet Russia

The more recent the better. Russian or non-Russian authors. What do you recommend?

My guess would be there has not been enough post Soviet Russia to be much history written. It’s only been 16 years or so.

You could get more from news stories I would think.

I swear I read the title as " Please help me find a good dental history of post soviet russia."

Yes, but so much of earthshaking importance has happened in those 16 years. A great power transformed, practically overnight – the ideology on which their society had been based for 72 years rejected, the economic and political system dismantled – the hope of democracy and the re-emergence of dictatorship in a new, more ordinary form – the rise of an even more widespread plague of crime and corruption – there’s so much to cover!

History of Soviet Russia from Wikipedia. Contemporary, detailed, and possibly totally fake. It’s not an authoritive source but it should be relatively useful as long as it’s not currently being vandalized…

Sorry, that link should read “History of **post-**Soviet Russia”.

More encyclopedia articles:

Post-Soviet Russia (Enyclopedia Britannica).

Russia (post-USSR section) (Encarta). Only covers up to the year 2000 or so.

Well, it’s like pulling teeth to find a good one!
