Help needed with a party game. The idea is to come up with a list of 26 two ‘word’ phrases in the format [letter] [word], one for each letter from A to Z.
Rules:
The [letter] must be just a letter, not its phonetic spelling or a homophone. So no ‘tea time’ or ‘em dash’ type answers.
The [word] part must be a single word, not another letter (so no IQ or SF) or multiple words.
The ‘phrase’ must be recognizable as generally heard as a phrase. As in, no family invented ‘L holiday’ will do. And spelled/written in that format.
Not a rule, but it would be nice not to have a lot of very similar phrases. For example, in my partial list below I use “O Positive”. I would rather not also use “A negative” and “B positive” in the same list.
Here’s my first attempt at the list. I especially need answers for the missing letters, but ‘better’ answers also would be great.
A levels
B major
C rations
D Day
E Ring; e. coli
F stop
G clef
H Hour
I beam
J
K ration; K cars
L dopa
M appeal
N rays
O positive
P
Q Tips
R
S curve
T square
U boat
V
W Virginia
X axis; X ray
Y chromosome
Z axis
R Kelly is a rapper, yes? I guess proper nouns are okay. But you’re right on W Virginia being no good.
Excellent!
I like the last two!
I think I will not use people unless I absolutely cannot find any other phrase to use…
Thank you all! Now the only letters still open, then, are P & W, though better suggestions for any letter are welcome.
