Hey. I recently saw Million Dollar Baby again, and it reminded me of another film. I can’t recall what movie it was, and it’s making me nuts.
The only thing I can recall is that the opening scene is with a man sitting at the bedside of an old, dying woman in a hospital. Her family is close, or outside, and the guy is trying to persuade her to not write a will to them, or write her will over to him, and make her sign it - she does, but he has to write the last part himself.
For some reason, I keep thinking Jim Carrey is involved but I’m not sure.
Anyone? (I think the movie is fairly recent, i.e. the last 10 years.
That’s how Lex Luthor gets (back) his fortune at the beginning of Superman Returns. Pretty much a dead match for your description (except it’s in her own bed, not a hospital).
The progress in this recent CS thread provided me with the strong urge to hijack the thread, but the idea may be fun enough for others to resist the hijack urge as well.
Think of a signature role/performance. Think of somebody else doing that part – only as poorly as humanly possible, not so much from lack of talent (although that could be a bonus) but just from being the exactly wrong “type.”
Some roles to consider:
Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire
Dean in Rebel Without a Cause
Clift in A Place in the Sun
DeNiro in Taxi Driver
Eastwood in any Dirty Harry movie
Streep in Sophie’s Choice
Close in Fatal Attraction
Cher in Moonstruck
Kathleen Turner in Body Heat
Kathy Bates in Misery
Others you’re either more familiar with or that can be ruined by bad casting.
