Please Help Me Identify This Car Used In The Burglary Of My Friend's House!!!

You have more info than we do, but the picture of someone who has enough means to drive around doing casual B&Es in an $ 80,000 car is odd in the extreme. If they have that kind of money the risk reward calculation involved in doing residential breaking and entering crimes would seem highly unfavorable. Criminals who have access to that type of vehicle are generally dealing drugs or contraband of some kind, not doing opportunistic residential B&Es unless there is something extremely valuable and easily transportable in that house that they know about or have been told about.

It hardly seems, based on the facts you have revealed, to be an opportunistic random stranger type crime.

Is it possible if your friend can go to the nearest Mercedes dealership and do a test drive down your street at approximately the same time at night while you do another recording of it to see if you have a match? Heck, do one for the Accord as well.

Actually the idea that they may have driven by in the past few days to case the joint is a good one. Unfortunately that means I am going to have to start scanning the DVR by just watching it for a few hours - it doesn’t fast forward / rewind real quick. It will be like watching paint dry.

It records for about 10 days before rewriting over the earlier materiel, so I have to get to it.

Yeah I think that a Mercedes would be a lousy choice to go on a burglary spree, but in this town they are far from uncommon.

Looks like I owe an apology to the OP. Mea culpa. Hope the police find the guys and that you can have some peace in your neighborhood.

Just a thought - since the camera/display are a bit off from real-world non-distorted dimensions, maybe it would be a good idea to get a yardstick (meter-stick nowadays?) or something of known length and go stand, holding said stick at a position about where edge of car is on vid. Shoot some video of person holding stick then use it as basis for measuring car. If you could get a fairly accurate length of vehicle, it might narrow down considerably (or highly confirm) make/model.

I hope I am explaining it well enough. It may or may not be able to be done accurately enough, but seems a good idea anyways. I bet you already have the software capable to do it with, LOL

Lost the time on edit…

Was gonna add that maybe there are two spots on ground/road or such that you could measure ‘for real’, then use in comparison to car from video.

A number of possibilities, for sure, but I might be missing some aspects, of course, that would negate the whole idea.

Mercedes E550, Coupe, C207, After-restyled car not earlier than 2011, fog lamp is straight (not curved), most likely glass roof. special wheels, most likely AMG designed.

Out of curiosity what would a car like this retail for?

Edmunds shows most 2013 models north of $50,000.

No one’s thinking a CLK coupe?

That’s damn close and the stock wheels are a near perfect match.
