I’ve recently decided to give up my mobile and rely on my landline (which is being upgraded.)
When I got my mobile, I chose a memorable number (it cost £5.)
Apparently such numbers are valuable 
I’ve had an estimate of £1,000 for mine. 
I’m in the UK - can anyone recommend a reliable company I can sell to?
I asked an AI for an answer and got one that seems correct on how to do this (it says it is possible) but I am unsure if we are allowed to do that (especially in FQ). Please advise.

Since this is more help and advice than factual, let’s move this to IMHO (from FQ).
AI is very good at posting something that “seems correct” even when they are completely wrong. You can post it, as long as you clearly indicate that it’s AI generated, but we would prefer that you actually check the AI’s cites to see if they really say what the AI bot thinks it says.
In other words, AI can be useful to get you to an answer, but don’t use AI alone for the answer.
Given the above I will only share what the AI offered as sites you can check to sell/buy mobile phone numbers in the UK. There was a lot more advice and caution about this process but I cannot verify all of it so skipping it.

Anecdotal, because I am in South Africa, not the UK.
I worked in a multidisciplinary Ad agency. So one client was a major beer brand, and we all contributed to a huge campaign, across web (my field), small and large format print, billboards, fliers, TV, the whole agency was involved. We got a special phone number specifically for this campaign- it was a phone in competition. This took a while to organise, though.
Somehow, across over 100 pairs of eyes looking at this material every days for over two months, everyone missed the fact that the placeholder phone number all the design used was in the form 021 888 8888. And for unknown reasons, no one ever swapped that number out, or tested it. So instead of the correct number, that is the one that went to print and the campaign was launched…
Almost immediately the agency gets a VERY ANGRY call from a Chinese man who greatly valued Chinese numerology. 8 sounds similar to the word for wealth (发)* and is associated with luck… and he was PISSED OFF.
In order to keep the client happy, we had to rent his phone number for the length of the campaign, at an exorbitant rate (much more than £1 000, rumour in the company bar was that it was closer to £40 000) which certainly added to his wealth, if not our luck.
So consider the number carefully when selling: it could be more valuable than you think!
* presumably in Mandarin, not the English word “eight”
