There is one episode that my sister and I have been trying to find, but all we can remember about it is the ending scene. Here’s what we recall:
Barney is in the jailhouse talking to Juanita on the phone, and begins singing to her, “Nita, Jua-a-a-nita!” Unbeknownst to him, Andy has come into the room and sneaks up on him, loudly adding the next line in the song, “Ask thy soul if we should part!” Of course, Barney is embarrassed and yells at Andy. Then, in irritation, with both hands he flips his own hair forward so that he looks like a scrawny Bozo the Clown.
Can anyone out in Doperland tell me the name–or at least the plot line–of this episode?
I THINK it’s the episode from season 1 called “Andy Forecloses” (“As sheriff, Andy is forced to evict a struggling family.”) but there is speculation in some of the things I’ve read while searching that Barney might sing that song another time.
Here are the lyrics so you and your sister can harass eachother with the song!
Thanks! I’ll check and see if I can find it somewhere. I remember laughing my head off at the end over the way Barney looked–terribly disgruntled, with his hair flipped forward and standing out. I’d love to see it again, but I never seem to find it on the reruns!
Barney sang to Juanita on the phone a couple of times, I think, so there may be more than one instance of this.
If you like the way Barney looks with his hair all messed up, there’s one episode in which Barney is trying to recite the Preamble to the Constitution (I think). He can’t remember much of it, and Andy is trying to help him along. Barney begins running his hands through his hair during his “recitation”, and by the end, when he “triumphantly” finishes, his hair is a spiky mess.
