I’ve seen them growing in a couple of places around town.
It’s a perennial, with many strong green stalks more than six feet tall, growing from a single plant. On the end of most stems is a round, many petaled white flower three or four inches across.
I can, I guess, go to a nursery and check there but I thought I’d ask here where I can sit on my butt.
plant
Haven’t used this in a while.
A close-up of the flower would be helpful.
Looks like some sort of a lily or iris. I think I have these growing in my yard!
But a close-up of the flower would help, as **twickster **said.
Isn’t it working? I’ll try again:

The plant is over 6ft tall.
I can see the plant, but only the whole plant with the photo about 3" x 3". The flowers are barely visible, and no detail can be seen.
I see what you mean. I don’t have a close-up. It looks similar to a daisey, IIRC. White with many petals. they’re quite large, and only one on the end of each stem.
Not really like a daisy. The striations fooled these old eyes.
That’s part of my hand for size comparison.

matilija poppy, Romneya coulteri.
Definitely. a.k.a. “fried egg bush”
Damn! I’m not much for plant identification, but I knew the moment I saw the close up of the flower. Too bad it already got answered…
