Please please PLEASE help me remember this movie's title...

How about Dog Boys with Dean Cain? Prison guards deliberately release prisoners to hunt them down with dogs. Cheesy and really low budget, and it sucks.

No, there was nobody as big-name as Dean Cain in this film. It was an independent “art” movie - intended to be very serious and disturbing, not a B-movie exploitation film. I remember the back of it had some kind of awards or something that it had won, and talked about how edgy and troubling it was and everything.

Thx 1138?

Did you try what I suggested upthread? It seriously sounds like it was a college or at least local film. I bet people who are into the indie film scene in your area will know it. Hell, you’ll probably find people who worked on it.

I’ll try, I guess, but somehow I doubt that if nobody here knows it, anyone else would. We have a lot of pretty hardcore film people here and so far nobody’s gotten it. It wasn’t local, I know that for certain, and I don’t know if it was a college film, though it looked a little too professional, in my opinion, to be one.

I’m afraid that if I continue this search, eventually people are going to accuse me of imagining it. But I swear to God, I didn’t. It’s a real movie; I held it in my hands; I remember it like it was yesterday.

Is there any online film forum where you think someone might be able to answer this?

I can say this much, the past few days of trying to figure out this movie have been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. There are about a BILLION goddamn motherfucking movies based on “The Most Dangerous Game,” in one way or another, which means that they have almost the exact same plot as this one and that any search with the keywords that I would use to try to figure out the movie is going to turn up THEM instead of IT (specifically, a lot of high profile movies like The Running Man.) I will add one more time this was NOT a “gladiator” type movie like Death Race or Battle Royale where the prisoners had to fight each other. It was more of a “Cube” scenario, where everyone was cooperating in trying to survive. And it was NOT set on an island, I remember that much.

Good goddamn, this is fucking frustrating.

Is it anywhere among wiki’s dystopian or post-apocalyptic films?

Punishment Park? It’s actually an older movie, but only got a DVD release in 2005 and the DVD box looks modern enough that if you grabbed it and read it quickly, you might not have noticed it was from 1970.

It’s certainly the kind of movie that an art-house video store would try to carry, since the filmmaker was known for his edgy, boundary-pushing, controversial films, and this particular one was supposedly “banned” for a while.

After reading the synopsis, if this isn’t it, I don’t think you’re going to find it.

That’s it. That’s it. THAT’S IT! THAT’S IT!!!

HOOOOOLLLLLY SHIT!

I can’t believe it.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

Good goddamn you have MADE my day!

I was serious about that cash reward. Does fifty dollars sound fair? If you have a Paypal account, let me know what it is.

Huh. Never heard of it before. There is a Wiki article, though: Punishment Park - Wikipedia

Good job, Student Driver!

Just got around to checking back on this one. Glad to know that was the right film… if it wasn’t, I had no other ideas.

That said, payment isn’t really necessary (as a joke, I almost suggested that payment could be a copy of that movie). I was mainly interested in seeing how much I could get out of Google. Found it on page 2 of a search on award-winning dvd “most dangerous game”.

I would be interested in any regional sodas, snack, or candies that might be in your area as “payment.”

Aw, dang it, I thought I’d get to solve this one. I rented Punishment Park on a whim last year - not half bad.

Last night I took a walk in the dark…a little place called Punishment Park.

Punishment Park, Punishment Park, goin’ on down to Punishment Park.

Student Driver, I live in Indiana - where are you? What kind of “regional” snacks do you want?

Well, now I want to see it too. Where can you find it?

Well, that depends on whether you want to break the law or not. If you want to break the law, which I do not advise that you do under any circumstances whatsoever, there are sites where you can search for this movie and download it in its entirety. I’m not sure what they’re called but it rhymes with “shmorrent.” But if you do this you will surely be arrested, and sent to a gulag. To be a law abiding upstanding American, it’s best that you order it on Amazon. Doing this will ensure that you will not be sent to a gulag to spend the rest of your natural life breaking rocks with a sledgehammer. You can get it used for not a lot of money, though you might want to opt to buy the most expensive version possible in these dire economic times - you may be sacrificing a little more, but your extra expenditure will stimulate the economy.
