One of my co-workers and his wife just had their first child on Saturday, a little boy. It turns out the baby has a blocked artery and needs to have surgery. I can imagine they’re awfully worried right now - could you all offer your prayers, well-wishes, etc. for Gary, Lauri and baby Jackson? I know they’ll really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

March of Dimes’ full name is March of Dimes Birth Defects Organization. They deal specifically in raising money for this kind of thing, and there’s lot of information on the website, plus support groups, contacts, the whole 9 yards.

We’re Canadian, so the cost of the surgery will be covered by our healthcare. But thank you. And much thanks for the well wishes from all.

Update: It turns out there was a bit of misinformation on the baby’s condition: It turns out he had not a blocked artery, but was actually missing an artery - a significantly more serious condition. Anyway, he underwent surgery to repair it at Toronto’s Sick Kids hospital, and it reportedly went as well as it could have. He’s not out of the woods yet, the next couple days are critical, but so far everything looks good.
I just got apicture emailed to me! He’s a little darling. You can see that the poor little guy’s skin is tinged blue in places due to his inadequate blood supply, though. But he’s just adorable.
He’s gorgeous! I love baby pictures. He looks like a fighter.
