Everyone i’ve used hasn’t really worked out too good.
So, like I prefer the ones in the stick, not the type where you dip your finger in and then apply.
If you could please list:
-brand
-name of particular chapstick
-where I can get it
I have some Blistex Complete Moisture that I’m quite taken with. I bought it at a CVS, your availability may vary. It’s a blue tube, and it has a pleasant, almost citrus taste, in addition to being extremely effective.
A blue tube of Blistex eh?
I had a blue tube of Blistex a few weeks ago. After applying it, it left huge noticeable white blotches of grossness on my lips. AND didn’t work!
It’s not a stick, but I’d recommend Carmex, which comes in tubes and is a gel-style balm. It’s mentholated, tastes bad and smells, well, interesting but it does a very good job.
Burt’s Bees Burt’s Bees Burt’s Bees.
Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. It comes in either a yellow metal tin (for the finger-dipping you don’t want) or a yellow plastic tube. It’s all natural and works way better than any other chapstick I’ve ever tried.
You can get it online at www.burtsbees.com and various stores have it (I’ve seen it in vitamin stores, Hallmarks, my school bookstore, etc). I think the site has a store locator.
On the far extreme end, you could try Laura Mercier Lip Silk. Comes in a tube, use a little tiny bit, makes lips feel amazing. Costs about $20, have to go to a fancy department store to get it, worth every penny. For a little less money, Clinique makes a pretty decent lip balm as well.
I second this one. Its wonderful, and the peppermint extract in it is perfect for hot days when hiking/swimming. Works well too, I have like three tubes of it lying around, all of them half empty I buy it at HEB, but they can be found in various places including little gift stores and Central Market.
If you don’t mind paying $8.00 USD for it, I’d recommend Anthony Lip Balm (Citrus). It is a stick, quite a bit larger in diameter and length than your average chap-stik type stick. Fantastic stuff but addictive, lip-crack I call it.
You can find it Nordstrom’s or any place that sells decent men’s skin care products.
I like Labello (the one in the blue tube) it’s creamy, not waxy like most sticks. I got mine at Shopper’s Drug Mart, but I’m sure any chain drug store would have it.
Rocky Mountain Lip Repair. The single best lip balm I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried a lot of them. It comes in a little jar, but you only have to use it once a day.
Chapstick Overnight Protection, I think is the name. It’s a Chapstick brand product in a purple squeeze tube. Wal-mart and most major stores carry it, around $3 a tube. The stuff works great, especially if you have problems with severely dry, chafed lips.
Also, Trader Joe’s sells chapstick called Virtuoso which is mint flavored and very good. Shea butter and all that.
Might help to mention what you like in a lip balm, if you really need sun protection, or whatever. Or at least what you’ve tried and haven’t liked, and why you didn’t like it, so no one makes the same “mistake” as Melandry.
For example, I don’t really like chapstick because it doesn’t spread very smoothly or easily, and feels thick and greasy.
For really dry lip rescue, nothing beats the Blistex in a white tube, although I apply a layer, let it soak in, then slough off the dry skin with a tissue, then reapply a thinner, less visible layer.
But for lip moisture maintenance (sounds like I’ve been watching too many commercials) I like Burt’s or TJ’s stuff.
Then I accidentally ran it through the dryer. And haven’t been able to find it in stores around here since.
But just this past week I picked up a stick of Chapstick All Natural. Vitamin E, jojoba, mango butter, beeswax and candelilla. Aside from no peppermint flavor, the texture is a lot like Burt’s Bees. Works pretty nice, especially since it’s been very chappy-lip weather around here for a while.
Another vote for Burt’s Bees or Carmex in a stick. I’m happy they started making it in chapstick form. I usually use the Burt’s stuff during the day and put the Carmex on at night.
I use those products nearly exclusively. The men’s products and soaps are great for me. I ESPESCIALLY love the bay rum soap and aftershave. It has a great smell that’s different from nasty stinky cologne, and conditions my beard at the same time.
