Please recommend a restaurant on Nantucket

My wife and I are going to take a trip over to Nantucket next weekend for our anniversary. I’ve only been there once before, and I think I probably had some kind of take out food when I was there. Can anyone recommend a nice, romantic-type restaurant?

Requirements:

  1. My wife doesn’t have the most adventurous palate, so nothing too exotic
  2. We won’t have a car, so something within walking distance of the ferry landing is preferable – although if you feel something is definitely worth a cab ride, feel free to suggest it

Thanks!

Are you staying overnight? That will be Memorial Day Weekend. The good news is that a lot of restaurants will be opening then. The downside is that the downtown will be mobbed, and you may not be able to get a seat on the ferry. If you were rethinking taking a car, you won’t be able to unless you got reservations months ago, but you probably already knew that.

Hereis a link to some restaurants there.

For casual fare, Brotherhood of Thieves and The Atlantic Cafe are reliable. Burgers, steaks, that sort of thing. Not romantic in the least, however. I’ve been to 21 Federal (nice atmosphere, not that great a meal), and Straight Wharf (okay atmosphere, nice views, reliable food). The real romantic place would be The Chanticleer in Siasconset. Pricey, and you’ll need a car or a cab. And reservations, but that might apply to most of the restaurants for the holiday weekend.

Have fun.

I ate at a place in Nantucket
Where they serve chicken in a bucket
The taste it still lingers
As you’re lickin’ your fingers
It’s bad for your heart but, aw, fuck it

We’re definitely not taking a car, and already have ferry tickets and a room reservation.

Thanks for the suggestions! Straight Wharf sounds like it might be a winner.

I knew it wouldn’t take long for a limerick to show up in this thread.

Yup. I clicked it just to read the limericks.
