I’m thinking of setting up a weblog for myself and would like to see some good examples first. I also like the idea of reading some good ones regardless of my own weblog project.
Could you people reccommend your favourite weblogs, especially those that feature good indexes of quality weblogs so that I don’t have to wade through junk to find the good ones.
I thought there would be a lot of replies to this post.
Clicking on favorites/blogs on my screen here I find 22 sites that
I go to regularly.
The one I always visit first is at http://denbest.nu/ by Stephen Denbest. It is sometimes challenging, often surprising and always superbly well written.
Good luck with your blog, visit Denbest to see how good a blog can be
Are you looking for a personal blog or commentary? What subjects, political persuasion, styles are you interested in? www.instapundit.com is one of the best IMHO and he links to a raft of other good blogs (including the aforementioned www.denbeste.nu - note the corrected URL).
lileks.com- is a popular Minn. newspaper columnist and cultural history buff; also sorta neocon, been doing this for 5 years and has an extensive site.
Regardless of one’s politics, these sites are well done.
I’m interested in commentary on politics, education, culture, sceince. Sort of a variety of topics written with lots of academic and practical expertise, and yet written so that laymen like myself can understand them.
ditto lileks.com- though not a blog in the strictest sense, it is what a blog can become.
http://www.joshclaybourne.com is a good example of a religious blog. The kid’s a Hoosier college student with ambitions of being Wm. F. Buckley, Jr., Jr…
http://www.worldwiderant.com is run by a friendly funny and very intelligent atheist pundit and is mainly about politics, religion, and hooters.
http://www.lotsofco.org is run by a very intelligent though strangely vapid teacher in Alabama and is dedicated to fashion trends and above all else TV.
