Please share your three favorite movies that make you roar with laughter!

Diminishing returns aside, my three would be:

Dumb & Dumber
There’s Something About Mary
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

Raising Arizona
Napoleon Dynamite
Airplane!

Most of my favorite comedies have been mentioned. Tho I second the recommendation to rewatch what you recall favorably, to see how well the laughs hold up. I remember watching Forum and Mad Mad World with my young kids, and having them ask me to thell them when the funny parts happened.

Other movies made me laugh out loud when I watched them - mainly out of surprise, but did not hold up on rewatching when I knew what was going to happen.

If I were naming only 3, I’d probly have to pick one each from Python, Brooks, and Marx Bros. Did I miss it or has there been no mention of Caddyshack yet?

**What’s Up, Doc!

Airplane

A Night at the Opera**

Thank you everyone.

Just reading some of the titles, made me laugh. And I am feeling much better.

My access to movies (very limited) didn’t bring up a lot of the titles. But, I was able to see To Be, or Not to Be (1942). I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie that was older than me. I read the synopsis, and knew I would be in for a treat. And I was! Thanks for recommending a movie I would never otherwise have seen.

And, I have more reels to see!

Thank you again!

I forgot Bad Santa.

I feel guilty. The first one I thought of was The Party which is pretty racist 50 years on but, I’m ashamed to say, still really funny.

There are two types of people in the world: the ones who find fart jokes hilarious (and continue to find them hilarious decades later), and the ones who don’t.

Doctor Strangelove
Galaxy Quest
Plan Nine From Outer Space

I’m a little sad no one shares my love for A Fish Called Wanda, but I still quote that all the time, eliciting eyerolls from the (now adult) children.

Christmas Vacation

Drop Dead Gorgeous

Caddyshack

I loves me some comedy movies, and I’m sure I’ve roared with laughter at many many, but the only 2 that stand out in my memory are:

Dodgeball - crass low physical comedy (Rip Torn in a wheelchair throwing wrenches at Justin Long)

Being John Malkovich - more of an absurdist brain tickler (Malkovich on the phone ordering towels had me literally rolling on the floor in the theater - yeah, it says a lot about me…)

Blazing Saddles

Arsenic and Old Lace

Airplane!

I could easily have listed that one, as well as the less well known Clockwise, which in spirit is as close as we ever got to a feature-length Fawlty Towers episode. In fact, I definitely should have listed Clockwise as one of my three.

Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
Run Fatboy Run

What’s Up Doc?
A Mighty Wind
Dark Star
Space Mutiny (MST3K’d)

Ninotchka
S.O.B.
The Monster (1994 film starring Roberto Benigni)

A Mighty Wind
A Fish Called Wanda
Arsenic and Old Lace

…are all excellent choices.

“I’m not a Brewster! I’m the son of a SEA COOK!!!”

Simon, is that you?

Life of Brian
Alan Partridge Alpha Papa
The Big Lebowski

The first two are cry laughing out loud movies. The third is very funny and clever. Can i add Bad Santa?
