Please tell me how this kids in the hall sketch ends

I can’t stand the sound of a phone ringing for more than a few seconds to the point where i change the channel if theres a scene with a phone going unanswered. Well, this happens to be the basic premise of the sketch in question, a few guys are hanging around at their apartment and the phone starts ringing but the guy who lives there refuses to answer because “he wasn’t expecting a call that day”. I’ve tried to force myself to watch the whole thing literally hundreds of times back when they showed KITH non stop on comedy central but i could never do it, can someone who remembers the sketch please give me the punchline?

Is this the sketch you are thinking of?

The guy’s buddies show up and make comments like “Forty-two rings?! What kind of sick obsessed bastard is calling?” Then the neighbor, a bearded hippie type, shows up: “Aren’t you gonna answer your phone? Wait, I know that ring. there was a ring just like that in VietNam!” (cuts to flashback of the neighbor, clean-cut, in an army uniform, sitting at a desk, sobbing in terror every time the phone rings - but not actually answering it).

Finally one of them does answer the phone, while the others look on nervously. There was some mundane resolution, which was forgettable compared to the premise itself. Or so I assume, because I’ve forgotten it.

Reminded by Sam’s link, I can see why the ending of the sketch eluded me - it’s not that good.

DigitalC, didn’t you have a mute button, or at least a volume control?

Yeah, that’s just what the sick freaks behind that phone want you to do.

volume off, closed captions on

Well yes, but that wouldn’t really help because as far as i know my tv doesn’t have any fancy shmancy captions. Thanks for the answers guys, looks like i wasn’t missing much.

Since the OP has been answered, does anyone know either the name or where I can find the KITH sketch where Dave plays a patient in the ER that is dying, but plays tricks on the ER staff, like ordering a pizza, making them step in something, or something like that?

Can the OP stand to see [PHONE RINGS] over and over, though?

I think the sketch is called, “The Fun Never Stops.” It’s in season four. Or three. I have those two seasons and I know it’s there.

It’s Emergency Room Practical Joker.

Thanks!

IIRC, the Kids had so much trouble coming up with decent endings that they started to parody it themselves.

The sketch ends with two very pissed off girls (played by…Bruce and um somebody I can’t remember) listening to the phone ring and going: "Pick UP the PHONE already! "

Kevin and Dave, actually, as ‘Jerry Sizzler and his sister, Jerry Sizzler’ - recurring characters, whose deal was that they were escaped mental patients, wearing bathrobes and badly positioned blonde wigs. They called people ‘prick’ a lot.

My favourite sketch with them involved Dave actually going on his meds, and getting married to a woman who didn’t know his history, and Kevin showing up to get him to come back.

Something I didn’t find out until the show had been off the air for several years was that McDonald/Foley and McKinney/McCullough had been comedy duos prior to forming the troupe. This likely explains the pairings of some of the most-often-recurring characters:

McDonald/Foley

Sir Simon Milligan and Hecubus
Jerry Sizzler and Jerry Sizzler
“Nobody likes us” guys
“Steps” (with Scott Thompson)
McKinney/McCullough

“Police Department”
Crooked salesmen
Gerald and Gerald
