Way to go, Rick! Or rather, Mrs. Rick. (I mean, she did most of the work, right?)
I’d wish you luck, but I don’t believe in it. I’d tell you to get lots of sleep, but you hardly sleep as it is. So all I’ll say is, I expect great things from this kid - don’t let me down.
(P.S. I wouldn’t tell you this except we’re alone and I know that no one with a baby daughter is reading. Here’s the thing: Baby boys are really special. Really. They might even be more special than baby girls, although most people, in the name of diplomacy, will say they’re equally wonderful. Just between you and me though, wow, boys are something else! Shhhhh, mums the word.)
Quick update: baby is a VERY GOOD baby - thus far, very little crying… a bit when he came back from his circumcision, but certainly he was allowed.
He’s also been a quick learner as far as breastfeeding goes, and he got a little manicure today courtesy of his grandma, because he was born with LONG nails.
I spent last night at the hospital, in the room with my wife and child. It was wonderful, even though sleeping on the recliner was not all that comfy. Tonight, my wife’s mother will stay with her and I’ll get some real sleep.
I am so glad everything went well, and it sounds like life took pity on you and sent you an angel baby. Not that they aren’t ALL angel babies, but yours sounds exceptionally so.
Babies are so cool. I think the best thing about them is that they re-introduce you to the concept that we really do live in a wondrous world.
You spend all your teen years building up a jaded “Big deal. I’ve seen that before” attitude about the world, but when you get to introduce it to your little one for the first time, you get a chance to appreciate it anew. The first time you hear your little one say "Look, Dad! A COW!!!, I guarantee that you will be just as excited about seeing it as he is.
And, most wondrous of all, you get to marvel at the fact that you and your wife were the ones that brought him into the world.
Best wishes to the entire Bricker family.

I posted a 'Grats above, but let me add a little. I haven’t interacted with you on the board very much, but I’ve always enjoyed your input. One thread of yours that stuck with me was titled something like “Where did the time go,” or some such. I’d bet you remember it.
IIRC, you’re 36-37; I’m 48 and that thread made me think about what I’ve done with my (Hey! Wait a minute…I was, just, like, 35 or so last week) life. And we do what we do.
And now you’ve successfully reached a milestone in your life (and at least two other lives that come to mind). Congratulations, again, Dad.
Oh, and all that brand-spankin’ new tabula rasa stuff to boot!
