Plnnr Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Oh Ambassador Zoggie, with these Ferero Rocher you are really spoiling us!

(don’t worry if the reference is lost on you. the UK & I dopers will get it just fine :D)

Personally, I think Skittles are the greatest sweets known to man.

Smint, both the lemon and really überminty kind. They’re fairly rare, so when I see them, I go running for them. Sweet xylotol, O nectar of the gods…

Sigh, it was killed 20 years ago when they addad caramel. Whatchamacallit. Those were sooo good. But the caramel changed the whole texture of the candy. I still remember when it happened. It was the saddest moment in my young life at the time. I was right outside the Hilo Post Office in the back of my parents Mazda. Where were you when Whatchamacallit added caramel?

Ugh! I keep forgetting to finish my post.

After that it was Lik-M-Aid. Sugar sticks you licked and dipped in colored, flavored sugar powder. You got three flavors in a pack and three sticks. But they stopped making them awhile back.

Sadly I now have no favorite candy. That’s a real moment in a person’s life the first time they walk down the candy aisle and have no desire to get anything. How weird.

Don’t make me choose. Like the OP, Peppermint Patties are right there at the top. And the previously mentioned Heath bars. But when the Easter season hits, its Cadbury creme eggs for me. I let them warm up a little and try to suck the creme out. It never works and makes a hellava mess, but I love it!

i’ll tell you what i don’t like, that gross ribbon candy that your grandma has in a bowl on the kitchen table. It always seems to be just one large piece of candy, no-one can eat that much candy…

Chocolate with Almonds. It can be Hershey’s (which are excellent and their plant is close to where I live) but there was a chocolate shop at the one mall where I used to live that had Almond Bark. It was the best! Unfortunately, I am foolish enough to eat it until I’m sick…

Chocolate Reisens. Perfect. Not too sweet. rich, chewy. And I’m on a diet and haven’t had one for a week.

StG

Another Primate candle-roasted marshmallows - great name for it

On the subject of candy I loved but is no longer available the tubes of sherbert with a licorice stick Mmm yum and sadly no longer can I enjoy :frowning:

That went right over my head. Is it from a UK advertisement for ferraro rocher chocolates or something?

Also…before I became the cultured eater than I am, I ate things like oreos or milky ways. And those are pretty good too.

Lindt Extra Dark is my standby favorite, but I recently found something called Scharffen Berger Nibby Bar that was realllllllly good. Here’s a description from a google search:

Damn.

How does one choose???

For sheer decadence, I’d have to go with those Guylian chocolate-hazelnut cream-filled shells.

For fun, Cherry Mash.

Toffifay seems to be making a small comeback in this part of the world.

Hershey’s plain and Special Dark for simplicity.

I miss Marathon bars…lost my first tooth in one.

Probably a dark-chocolate Zero bar, this week anyway. (I should point out that this is NOT the same thing as the US one. The Canadian one is filled with creamy chocolate fondant (?), your choice of dark, milk, or white chocolate.)

Reese’s Pieces, Peanut Butter M&Ms, Watchamacallit, 100 Grand Bar (alwas known to me as Hundred-Thousand Dollar Bar), Baby Ruth, Spree, and the best chocolate ever comes from the imported Kinder Eggs, chocolate eggs with a legitimately fun toy inside.

In no particular order – Caramello, Godiva truffles, Rocky road fudge, Lindor balls, and jelly bellies (the juicy pear are the best!).

Actually, they still make something like that. It’s called FunDip, but they only give you one stick, which ticks me off 'cause those are my favorite part. I haven’t seen them in the store, but I haven’t really looked, because the local ice cream man carries them.

Spree. Sweet Tarts. Gum drop/Spice drops. Orange Slices. Mint Leaves. Smarties!!! Tootsie Pops. How many licks does it take to get to the center? I’ll never tell.

  • Lindt’s Lindor with Hazelnut Creme filling…<drool>
  • Jelly Belly jelly beans
