Plural

For some reason, I’m on a grammatical kick tonight. This is a sillier post than my other one. I’m taking suggestions for a plural “you” form. Lotsa (okay, “lots of”) other languages have it.

The obvious choices:
o y’all - kind of hick, but popular in the south
o you guys - applies to chicks too, but it’s a Michigan thing, mostly.
o youse - or yous, or whatever. Kind of mafia-ish?
o youse guys - ditto.

You’ns (aka yunz)

“Ye” was originally the plural pronoun of the second person (in the subjective case) according to Webster’s…wanna resurrect it for this purpose?

Youse Guys or worse Youse Guyses, anytime I here one of these I assume a room temperature IQ tops, they seem to be popular with New Jersey waitresses.

I believe you is both singular and plural, like moose.

Goose = Geese – Moose = Meese?

Yeah, you is both singular and plural. But it’s ambiguous at times.

All y’all are wrong.

Rhinoceros - rinoceri?
octopus - octopi?
virus - viri?
dice - die?
you - yi

There is really no logic in this laguage at all. My favourite is tenses.

fit - fat? (fitted just doesnt work for me)
hang - hung?

etc…

rhinoceros / rhinoceros or rhinoceroses [I use rhino/rhinos in practice]
octopus / octopuses [but you occasionally see the incorrect octopi or even octopodes]
virus / viruses [even in latin, viri is incorrect. It’s neuter so the Latin plural is vira]
die is the singular and dice is plural
