Plurals of English nouns borrowed from other languages

I loved bibliophage’s 2004 essay on English plurals of words borrowed from Latin and beyond … I’d missed it the first time around.

I thought I’d already known this stuff, but I learned new things. And the interwoven humor was delightful but unobtrusive, e.g.:

“It’s easy to see why some people are attracted to hippos.”

“Most of us don’t get boni or ride bi (but I’m not judgmental if you do).”

(Oops, I gushed. Sorry, Cecil!)
