Pocket PC general questions. . .

For various reasons, I’m sort of considering a Pocket PC (or whatever they’re called, products like Dell AXIM, HP iPaq, etc). But, I don’t want to talk about specific brands or models, unless it’s relevant.

I’d like some actually PDA stuff, but I’d also like a portable browser for various reasons. . .for checking email while out, checking the fantasy scores, etc. I don’t really need it as a portable media device.

From what I’ve read, I’m really not seeing a great argument for a Pocket PC over something like the iPod touch. But it seems like i’m missing something. I understand that browsing the net can be limited on a Pocket PC – websites need to have a microsoft mobile version. They’re still very pricey.

So, what’s the advantage of the pocket PC and how the hell does the price stay so high on these ($500+ for powerful ones)?

Do they have more processing power? Is it the memory? Are people paying a premium so that it runs a similar OS to windows or can sync with their outlook?

Essentially, is there something fundamental about them that the iPod touch doesn’t provide?

Do they both run javascript? Does all software for a PC also run on the pocket?

Does anyone still use them? Does Microsoft have a “promise” of a great future with them?

Any other words of wisdom?

Please move to IMHO.
