I don’t even know the title, but I think it’s “My Way or the Highway.” I actually like the song, oddly enough. But it sounds like a pretty offensive song.
From whose perspective is the song being sung? If it’s from a guy’s perspective, sung to a lady, then I’m offended. But it might be a strong statement against victimization. Does anyone know?
It’s not about Fletcher Christian, is it?
Um… any particular reason you’d be offended if it was sung to a woman, but not if it was being sung to a man? It’s okay to sing things you consider offensive to a man, but when it’s to a woman it’s bad? Or is it just because you’re a woman yourself and that’s the only perspective you have?
Anyway, IMHO the lyrics are about someone in relationship in which there is a lot of fighting going on, one where they’re being controlled, and they decide that they’re sick of putting up with it:
you think you’re special, you do
I can see it in your eyes
I can see it when you laugh at me
Look down on me
You walk around on me
Just one more fight about your leadership
And I will straight up
Leave your shit
Cause I’ve had enough of this
And now I’m pissed
This time I’m 'a let it all come out
This time I’m 'a stand up and shout
I’m 'a do things my way
It’s my way
My way or the highway
I hate the song because whenever I hear it I think of the song by Frank Sinatra, and it just seems… wrong.
Shoudn’t this go in IMHO though?
