Here’s the reveal, or a reveal at least. It looks like they’re making it more, how can I put this, “Mode 7-ish” this iteration. The internet has little word about anything else (new Pokemon, miscellaneous gimmicks, etc) at this point. Word is it’ll be released in Fall in Japan, with no ETA for the rest of the world at this point.
Looks like they finally ran out of metals and gems to abuse and are going back to naming the games after colors like the good old red/blue days.
‘Mode 7’? What means this?
Mode 7 was what the SNES used to create a “3D” feel, seen in Mario Kart, F-Zero, and during the race in Chrono Trigger (among other things). I said this because it looks less like actual 3D or 2.5D (to my eye), and more like rotating the sprites in battle like they did on the SNES.
When I hear ‘Mode 7,’ I think ‘Do a barrel roll!’
Bricker Jr advises that so far, only two of the new, Gen V Pokemon have been revealed: Zorua, the Dark Fox Pokemon, and its evolved form Zoroark, the Illusory Fox Pokemon. Both are pure Dark types. Also he says that the Diamond and Pearl cartoon anime storyline will finish this summer in Japan and a new Black-and-White storyline will begin, tied to the release of the new games.
