Pokemon Go Now Available for iPhone and Droid

It definitely possible he took out all the high levels with low levels. You only need to beat one defender to lower the prestige level. And you have 6 of your own pokemon to do it. My guess is, they stuck around and whittled down the prestige level and just revived and healed up.

The non-AR fast throw trick seems to work for me.

Turn off AR mode. When you encounter a Pokemon, the screen will change to an artificial background with the Pokemon zoomed in really close. Start swiping at the screen as if you’re throwing a Pokeball. When the Pokemon starts to zoom out, if you hit him with the Pokemon, its supposed to be a 100% capture rate. I haven’t caught anything rare yet so it may be just luck, but I’m 5/5 with this trick so far. I did miss one throw, remember you have to actually hit the Pokemon, not just throw the ball.

I’m sure it’ll be removed quite soon, but I officially own a gym!

The one across the street was, again, really weak…so I beat their guy and took it for myself…we’ll see if it lasts a half hour. I would tell my co-workers, but they’re all stronger than me and will just beat me. So shhhhh

Damn it, I want a gym. I live in an area where there’s a lot of players so everything’s at least 800CP. There’s a level 9 gym with like 9 1200+CP Pokemon defending it. I gotta play a lot this weekend

Update: It was taken over by someone from my own team with a higher-level poke, but my pokemon was kicked out and his is in there.

Why didn’t they just add his to mine since it’s the same thing?

It probably did but then the gym level dropped and the lowest cp pokemon got kicked out

It’s fairly easy to get level 1500+ vaporeons and as vaporeon is currently the second best pokemon in the game… gyms come fairly easy.

Anyone above level 12 or so noticing that their pokeballs are starting to curve even if they think they’ve thrown straight? Especially with high CP pokemon? I’ve read online that this could be an artificial difficulty boost by Niantic to keep you wanting more pokeballs, but I’m not entirely convinced. I think maybe the pokemon are just farther away and my quick flicks are not being registered correctly with the software and accidentally becoming curve balls. I’ve heard that throwing slower may help, which I’ll try out later. But I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing curve balls when they could’ve sworn they threw straight.

I mentioned this in one of my previous posts upthread. It’s definitely artificial difficulty. It’s like there’s a repelling magnet on the pokemon and if your ball gets near it, it zooms in away. And it usually happens to me either after using a berry or switching to a great ball. This morning on my walk into work it happened with a 20 something CP bat. Wasted 10 balls because of it then the damn thing disappeared.

Also, a quick leveling tip. If there a 3-Evolution type that you come across a lot (for my in NYC is Pidgeys and Weedles) after evolving up to it’s final form, instead of just junking them for candy, evo them for 12 candy to get the XP. Really works well if you use a lucky egg in conjunction. Last night just from pidgey evos I went from about 1/4 of the way to Lvl 19 to level 19. It’s not uncommon for me to have 12 of em in my roster with 100+ candies.

It’s a little less efficient if you do it with the higher candy evos but for me, I always have a shit-load of bats so I’ll drop the 50 candy every now and then when I have 200+.

I’m only level nine but I was trying to catch a Squirtle the other day and the balls were dramatically curving away from it. It was pretty obvious that it was artificial.

I find the ball curve happens to me as well, and I’m a lowly 11.

Tis pretty annoying

I just leveled to 11 and have just started noticing it.

I’m pretty sure it’s a bug, it’s randomly happened to me with no rhyme or reason since I started the game.

I’m level 23, and I’m starting to get really annoyed with how difficult it’s gotten to catch and keep even low-level guys like weedles. I’m fine with getting the same 100 XP as a newbie for a 10 CP weedle, and I’m fine with having to work a little harder to catch the 300 CP weedle. I’m not fine with having the 10 CP weedle pop put of its ball 6 times and then run away, over and over. It gets really time-consuming, and is making it hard to take a walk that involves more walking than standing there trying to catch a weedle.

Yeah, not only does it get increasingly ridiculous and ball-consuming, but once you run out of balls it takes a lot of work to restock. Have to hang out at a spot with multiple Pokestops for a long-ass time waiting on the ~5 min recharge to get 1-4 more balls a pop. It’s getting quite tedious and I’m not willing to pay real money to get more.

Does it actually get harder to catch Pokemon as you advance in levels, or are they making it universally harder and we each attribute the change to our advancing levels?

The former. This is confirmed by code examination.

Well that’s dumb. More advanced Pokemon should be harder to catch, but surely Pidgies should, if anything, get easier. How does the opposite make sense?

They are also higher CP as your level goes up.

Well, you can FIND higher CP ones. But you also get low CP critters that are still stupidly hard to catch which isn’t an issue at low levels.

That is, of course, how they get you: Make it super easy and rewarding at low levels then ramp up the difficulty once you’re invested so you’ll start spending money on Pokeballs so you can catch a 35CP Rattata
