I just finished the second island. I’m about 24 hours in (I’m obsessive about breeding) so it’s been slow going. I’m enjoying it despite some annoyances. The chief annoyance is all those damn cut scenes and hand holding. I wish there was a “I’ve been playing for twenty years” mode.
I have ordered a 2DS for the sole purpose of playing this game. First Pokemon game I’ve ever payed money for (played the first few generations on an emulator, and then the free to play Pokemon Go). Hope this will live up to the expectations and hype. I just can’t decide if I want Litten or Rowlet as my starter.
I compromised by picking Litten and then catching a Dhelmise: same typing, but he also gets what amounts to a Steel STAB through his ability Steelworker. He’s tankier than Decidueye (Rowlet’s final form).
OK, both Bricker Jr and now his dad (trailing by about a week) have completed the Pokedex. I got Pokerus through a Wonder Trade and so my EV training has been quick. Of course, I could just let the little guys play at Poke Pelago and earn EVs while I nap.
This is the first Pokemon game in years that, as I’m watching it, I really wish I could be playing it. I’ve come to realize this for one reason and one reason only:
There seems to be little-to-no grinding involved.
The guys I’m watching haven’t grinded (ground?) at all and are equal level with the people they’re facing as the game is progressing, and it looks fun as hell. I wish I had the necessary equipment to play because the miminal grinding I CAN stand would benefit me a lot it seems.
