For whatever reason, I’m back on a Pokemon kick and I’m struggling to catch em’ all.
Any Dopers interested in trades? I figure we can discuss them here to sort out the details, trade friend codes, then hook up over Wi-Fi.
Parents- If your children play and you’re comfortable with them linking to trade with a stranger (with supervision, of course!) that works too. Of course, if you aren’t cool with that, I understand, no hard feelings.
With that out of the way, at the top of my list right now is Ekans (or Arbok), Lunatone, and just about any of the Legendaries. I’ve got plenty of Pokemon (including a shiny Palkia!) and can get anything from LeafGreen and Emerald.
Funny that you mention Bulbasaur, I’m raising lovely little Bulbina right now. And yes, she’s adorable.
The GBA and DS games are brilliant. Worth buying a DS over, in fact. Everything that made Red and Blue (and Gold/Silver) fun got 10x better with Ruby/Sapphire, and 10x better still with Diamond/Pearl. They also remade Blue and Red as Leaf Green and Fire Red; they’re the original games with GBA graphics, a bunch of sidequests, and all the features introduced like abilities, genders, breeding, etc.
Anyone interested in pokemon should be informed that remakes of the gold/silver versions are coming out in Japan this fall, which means they’ll be in the states by next April or so. It looks like they’re going to be pretty good remakes, too.
I have Pearl and if possible I would like to trade for the three starting in leafgreen And possibly the birds. Um, I am willing to offer damn near anything. I was able to snaflg a ditto for the daycare center so I can breed nearly any type.
The birds are my babies, you can’t have those. (We could do a quick back and forth trade so you can get them in your Pokedex and look for them on GTS though. You’d just need to bring collateral.)
I do have each of the starters, though, and could breed you one of each. If you only have access to Pearl, I could use a lvl 1 Sneasel and a Buneary. If you just have those two, just bring whatever else and you’d get the 3rd starter pretty much for free.

My son is very much into Pokemon, and I will be happy to act as an intermediary for trades. (He also offers to battle anyone who is interested in battling… he is seven, but has held his own against some much older battlers, so I have reason to believe he can hold his own in the battling arena.)
He advises that he has both Ekans and Lunatone (and he says “Lunatone is easy to find in Meteor Falls in Sapphire and Ekans is easy to find in Fire Red all over the place.”) Anyway, he has them both in his Platinum and is willing to trade.
He also has some legendary duplicates: he has two Sweecune (sp?) one from Leaf Green and one from Pokemon Colosseum; one Enetay from Fire Red and one from Colosseum; and one Zapdos from Fire Red and one from Platinum. He says he’d be willing to trade one of each of those, but only for other legendaries.
I took 3rd, 3rd, and 2nd in my last tourneys! (BRs, but not half-bad for someone who’s only been playing a few months.)
My tournament deck is a balanced Machamp (yawn), my favorite deck is T-Tar, and I’m working on a Mother Gengar build.
Some league buds and I are also working on a Cheap Deck Challenge. $25 retail price limit, based on Gathering Ground prices. Basic energy is free. If anybody want to try it, let me know.
And of course, I’m always looking to trade. Looking for Palkia G Lv.X, Luxray Gl Lv.X., Uxies, Claydols, Roseanne’s, Candy, Unown G…the usual stuff. And I could use a bunch of misc. stadiums, trainers, etc. I have some good cards to trade.
I’m interested in the Suicune and the Entei (decent spelling attempt, btw ), but I don’t have much to offer. Heatran, Cresselia, or Mespirit maybe?
For the Lunatone and Ekans, I can give him their other game equivalents: Solrock and Sandshrew. Unless there’s something he needs in particular. (I’ve also got some King’s Rocks and other rare-ish items if he needs some)
Out of curiosity, what’s his Pokedex at? I’m at 452/493, but I have a feeling his number is going to embarrass me.
He is willing to trade you a Lunatone for a Solrock and an Ekans for a Sandshrew, but, he says, I should really tell you to just get Fire Red, Ruby, and Sapphire, and then you wouldn’t have these problems.
He will trade you a Suicune level 65 for a Cresselia. He asks what the Cresselia’s nature and current moveset is and if it’s had any EV training so far.
Kids these days! Just remind him college students are poor.
Cresselia is brand new, no EV training. Naughty nature w/ Mist, Aurora Beam, Future Sight, and Slash. He’d be the 3rd trainer to own her, so there’s a bit of an experience boost too.
OK. I need to set his Platinum up on the Wi-Fi, and can’t do that 'til I get home. I’ll post his Friend Code here this evening and we can set up a time to trade…tonight or tomorrow…
Bricker- I’ve registered BrickerJr and am good to go anytime this afternoon/evening. To summarize the trade, its Cressellia for Suicune, Solrock for Lunatone, and Sandshrew for Ekans. Are there any pokemon he’d like to see so he can later search for them on GTS? If so, I’ll bring them along and we can do a quick back and forth so he can get the data.
AllWalker- If I knew what Mafia was, I could very well be interested. Should I just check out the Game Room thread for the time being to get an idea?
