Pokemon X and Y

Just found out the Pokeball Pattern Vivillion is available for the American games via internet download through Tuesday the 12th. The announcement was last Wednesday, so it’s a short-time promotion. Previously this one was only available in France.

I’m at 663 seen, 656 obtained. All that’s left are legendaries from other games, starters from other games (Totodile and Treecko), and ones that evolve by being traded while holding an item. Gotta get my kids to take some time out and trade with me

Hey fellow Trainers!

I’m currently breeding Aggrons to grow an Aggron that has good enough stats to really benefit from Aggronite. Plus, if I breed it myself, I can nickname him/her “Aggro”, which is a goal.

Hi again!

I’m starting to pay attention to the Battle Maison, and I’m looking for recommendations for a team for Single Battles.

My current team is Lucario, Gardevoir, and Charizard.

I’ve done some research, and so far it looks like I should switch out Charizard for Blaziken. Also, Mawile might be good. I have all the Mega Stones available in Y.

I want to keep Gardevoir because I’d like a Psychic type and I can’t use Mewtwo here. But maybe I would be better off with a Ghost type? I don’t know.

What is your advice or what has worked for you in your game?

Gardevoir, Aegislash, Charizard/Blaziken seems pretty solid to me. Honedge can learn Sacred Sword so you have a fighting type move in your set if you stick with Charizard.

I’ve had success in Single Battle with Tyrantrum, Talonflame and Mega-Venusaur. Tyrantrum knows Crunch, which gets a boost from Tyrantrum’s Strong Jaw ability, so I can take out Ghost and Psychic that way.
I’ve made it up to the boss 3 times, but get hammered by her Purugly that has high speed and knows Hypnosis and Dream Eater. She just puts my Pokemon to sleep and pounds on them. As soon as I switch out, she puts the replacement to sleep. I never manage to wake up before getting knocked out. Right now I’m trying again after replacing Talonflame with Moltres, which knows Safeguard and can prevent sleep on my team for 5 turns.
For the final boss, definitely put in something that can prevent sleep, either by knowing Uproar or Safeguard, or give it a Lum berry, or has Insomnia ability.

I’ve beaten the other 3 bosses with the same team. Add in Raichu with Light Screen for double and rotation battles. Add in Greninja and Aegislash for triple battles.

I like using Breloom or Gliscor with Posion Heal and a Toxic Orb. They switch in and get poisoned at the end of that turn, and not only do they gain 1/16th HP each turn because of their ability, they’re immune to Sleep.

I think Blaziken with his Hidden Ability is a much stronger choice than Charizard. Blaze is useless, but Speed Boost means that in a couple of turns he’s outspeeding everyone.

Thank you all for your advice on Inverse Battles. I need to try harder; I’m still not doing very well at it. :smack:

Currently I am somewhat distracted by the upcoming official online Fairy Face-Off Tournament. Details available here: Pokémon Global Link

So far I am going with Mega Mawhile and Mega Gardevoir. Also considering Dedenne, Azumarill, Togekiss, and Sylveon. Granbull might not be a bad idea either, and I’ve heard Klefki can be a huge pain to opponents under the right circumstances.

Xerneas is forbidden, as is Arceus (because it’s not Kalos-born).

Anyone else pondering the tournament? Don’t let me make a fool of myself alone this time.

Well the rankings for last weekend’s online Fairy Type Tournament are out. I placed in the bottom 7%. :o Like I said, I don’t play to win. But I still did better this time than I did in the Eevee Tournament (bottom 1%).

The team I used most often was Togekiss, Mawile, and Dedenne. I found out belatedly that Mawile’s Iron Head attack is extremely brutal (after, of course, several opponents abused my team with it). I wonder if that particular attack should be banned from tournament play. Didn’t stop me from using it once I figured out how effective it was, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Next tournament is coming up at the end of October - Ghost Types, of course! More details here:

I think I’ll be sitting this one out.

Oh, and don’t forget to pick up a free special Pumpkaboo by October 31! You can download it to your 3DS by selecting the “Receive a Gift” option in the Pokemon X/Y menu.

I’m getting excited for Pokemon OR/AS in November. Already pre-ordered the strategy guide, and I’ll do the same for the game next month.
