Pokemon X and Y

Once I start breeding them I will. I also got a tree ghost thing that evolved as soon as he arrived.

Started both games yesterday. So much better than B/W/2. It makes me a little sad that my compulsive tendencies will make me play them through to completion so I can import their Pokemon to X/Y.

I will at some point need a Chespin, from somewhere, as I have decided NOT to pull my usual trick to get all three starters by doing a short game, trade, and reset. Mainly because I don’t have a second 3DS.

Both Bricker Jr and I are playing: I’ve got X and he’s got Y.

After watching the master at work since Diamond/Pearl days, I decided to learn Black / White. Now, if I do say so myself, I can actually give my son a run for his money, battle-wise. He still consistently beats me in double battles.

Anyway, we both agree with the Exp comments above, and he says that the EV training change is huge. He almost views it as a competitive disadvantage: he was willing to put in the time to do EV training, and had stronger Pokes than his friends as a result; now, that option exist for everyone.

It’s really only a disadvantage in a playground competition sense (“playground” used loosely and without implying age). EVs and IVs were important if you wanted to curbstomp your friends and neighbors, but they were pretty superfluous if you were a really hardcore competitive battler since most of the time they would just hack legal Pokemon or use simulators so they could focus on the metagame rather than the tedious raising of new teams.

X and Y changed that up too though, the 3DS is notoriously difficult to hack and as I understand it, it’s pretty much programmed to be able to brick itself if it detects anything “weird” going on. I’m sure it will happen eventually, but not for a while it looks like. And it will probably be even harder if you got a digital copy.

Friend code : 2707-3052-0354 - ‘Candid’.

My friend code is 2191-8930-6967 (“Papito” on the 3DS and “Bricker X” as a trainer name.)

I’ll add Bricker Jr’s code after talking to him about it. I can’t imagine he would object to a rich field of trade and battle possibilities…

And – luck of luck – I picked Chespin as a starter and it was a female, so a trip to the Daycare has netted me a newly-hatched (unfortunately male) Chespin from my now-Chesnaught.

Want him?

Sure. I’m relatively early in the game, though, so I don’t have anything significant to trade yet. I did end up with a female Fennekin, though, so once I get to the Daycare, I might be able to produce one of those…

That sounds like a perfect trade. Just let me know – I’ve added your friend code; when you add mine, theoretically we’ll see each other on-line when we’re both on-line.

I’ve beaten the Elite Four and the Champion, and caught Xerneas without needing the Master Ball, so I am now working on prep for the Zygarde catch, as well as training Xerneas up.

Bricker Jr is (of course) ahead of me on all fronts.

This is my first Pokemon game since Fire Red, and I’ve been loving it so far. I especially like the addition of Mega Evolution. I’d definitely agree that the game is quite a bit less tedious, even with my fairly limited use of the EXP Share.

Anyone have any tips on super training? I’ve found the mini games difficult at the hire levels.

I have yet to catch MewTwo or Zygarde. Bricker Jr. has them both.

Also, I see Articuno flying around, but he won’t stay for a battle.

Got the fire fox egg, hatching it now…

The more Friend Codes you add (when those people also add you) the more areas you get in Friend Safari in Kiloude City.

I saw the trade attempt – Internet connection on the deck is spotty. Let’s try again – Chespin for Fennekin?

Correct. I’ll give it another whirl tonight.

I’m up to 366 obtained pokemon in my pokedex. If I’ve done the math correctly from various sources online, even though there are 718 total pokemon in all the games, only 598 are obtainable in X/Y until the poketransporter/pokebank apps come out in late December.

Gotta catch 'em all indeed!!

That being said I’m always on the hunt for hard to catch or interesting pokemon, to add to my collection. Friend code is 3153-3357-5220 if anyone wants to add me. Just let me know if you have added me, and give me your code as well and I’ll add you. More friend safaris is always good. Mine has Espurr, Trumpig (I think that’s the name?), and Woobat.

I’m your huckleberry.

I’ll add you later on.

I just added you.

Once the bank opens up I might try online battling. I have quite a few Pokemon I want to bring up from Soulsilver.

Success! I got your Fennekin, who I assume is the creme of the crop.
