Yippee! First Thursday night of the month means - poker tonight! I love drinkin’ and smokin’ and playing poker. I wonder who’ll show tonight?
Wish me luck!

They call you lady luck
But there is room for doubt
At times you have a very un-lady-like way
Of running out
Your on this date with me
The pickin’s have been lush
And yet before the evening is over
You might give me the brush
You might forget your manners
You might refuse to stay
And so the best that I can do is pray
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck if you’ve been a lady to begin with
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck let a gentleman see
Just how nice a dame you can be
I know the way you’ve treated other guys you’ve been with
Luck be a lady with me
A lady never leaves her escort
It isn’t fair, it isn’t nice
A lady doesn’t wander all over the room
And blow on some other guys dice
Lets keep this party polite
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I’m the guy that you came in with
Luck be a lady tonight
A lady never flirts with strangers
She’d have a heart, she’d be nice
A lady doesn’t wander all over the room
And blow on some other guys dice
Lets keep this party polite
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I’m the guy that you came in with
Luck be a lady tonight

It’s always been one of my favorite pastimes, too.
Good luck. (And stay away from Acey-Deucey–that games a killer.)
~sigh~
I miss my bi-weekly poker game. We played every other Thursday in the olden days. Dealers choice, no wild card games. quarter/half dollar. On a bad night you’d lose $50.00 at most. It was worth that much for entertainment expense.
~sigh~
I wish I were there with you.
I hate acey-deucy myself.
And remember the old poker rule:
If you sit down to the table and don’t see a sucker–it’s probably you.

Evil game. I lost forty bucks playing that stinkin’ game!
Also, never sit at a poker table with anyone whose first name is a city.
I love to play poker with people who think drinking is an integral part of playing poker.
I used to throw a girl’s night poker game once a month. It really was a reason to just hang out, smoke, drink, and gossip.
We need a Doper’s poker night.
<GaWd> we’ll call you “Girl-Java: Partner in crime” (GaWd, you’ll always have credit for sigs!)

And, I love the morning after (where’s my lunch money?).
Hang on beatle…I’ll frisbee you a bagel
You got to know when to hold 'em,
Know when to fold 'em;
Know when to walk away,
Know when to run.
Kenny Roger’s only real contribution to society.
In a friendly game in the dorm one day, a couple guys retreated to the men’s room leaving only two of us at the table (desk). A short while later I was dead broke when my “Aces over boat” got shot down by 4 nines AFTER he’d drawn three cards. In a natural (no wild card) game. With ME dealing!
Good luck beatle! Never play Boo-ray (I never took french, so I don’t know how to spell it correctly) with a bunch of wiley cajuns - you’ll lose your house, car, and clothes! It’s a fun game though.
Maybe at the next Houdope we could have a doper-poker night.
Remember: a Smith and Wesson beats four aces.
Sweet and holey Moses, someone else knows the game of Booray. That was a staple at the college poker games (among about 70 other games we knew.)
I miss playing twice a week.
I miss getting together and playing with friends, because you knew even if you lost, you’d still have fun.
I miss playing at fraternities where they played to drink and lost all ability to make intelligent plays.
I miss winning enough money to finance my education.
I miss the 19 hour marathon sessions thanks to a snow day.
However, I don’t miss the lack of sleep. But somehow, the big roll of money made up for it.
Funny you should say that, Bluepony; my first name is a city, right here in Texas.
We play lots of Booray.
