I haven’t written a book, but I have published a number of articles for Poker Digest magazine, and I have an open offer from a publishing company to publish a book if I put together enough material. So it’s on my ‘to do’ list. Maybe I’ll just go and copy all the essays I wrote in this thread!
Sorry i missed you. Sometimes, if the table chat is silly, or if there isn’t any, i just turn off the chat window, so maybe i wasn’t follwing the chat when you came to say hi. I’ll be more attentive in future.
Sam, thanks for all the advice. I certaniyl think you’re right about that website being too loose in its recommendatins; in fact, they admit the very same thing on the site! Plenty of people on the freeroll tables play even looser, however–i guess that’s what happens when losing doesn’t cost you anything.
Giraffe, i’m sure you’re exactly right about freeroll games being completely different from money games. I haven’t played any real money games yet, mainly because i don’t have any money to bet right now. I play the freeroll games for fun, and also to practice my discipline. It’s hard folding ten or twelve hands in a row, but i find that if i can force myself not to call with marginal hands, then i end up winning more.
I thought this thread was great enough to deserve a bump. I play mostly 2/4 Hold 'Em at Party, along with some tournaments. (Mostly the $10+1, but I got brave and played a $30+3 the other night and won it!) My goal (aside from becoming a stronger player overall) has been to win enough to make a trip to Vegas early next year and bankroll some low-limit action , and I’m almost there!
Once you register at 2+2, you can set it up to read just like the SDMB.
I know that UltimateBet has .25/.50 tables (as well as .01/.02, but I can’t really count that). Some others might have cheaper games.
