Pokey LaFarge: any fans here?

We have a group of eight people who periodically go to live music events suggested by one of us, ideally a band the rest of the group hasn’t seen and is unaware of.

My last suggestion was Michael Franti. None of my friends knew his music, but they all enjoyed the show. Another member of the group suggestedSteve ‘N’ Seagulls; when the band gets back from a tour of Europe we will be seeing them, I think.

The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band was a big favorite for the group. We’ve seen the band three additional times after the first experience.

So, the latest suggestion is for Pokey LaFarge. Any fans here? Anyone been to a show? How was it? Anyone else see new bands with a group like we do?

I’ve seen some of his videos. Looks like ol’ fashioned good time music, really well performed.

I’m a fan of Pokey. He’s a local favorite around here. I’ve been to several of his shows but I have not been in a few years since he got really big. The shows were a lot of fun.

I’m still a little miffed that he stole the two backing members of the Rum Drum Ramblers, though, another local band who I liked.

Love him! My favorite is still the first song of his I heard, La La Blues. I’m a sucker for the harmonica in that tune.
