Did not know where else to ask. When police leave from a call, they write a report, but these said they ‘wrote a yellow’. What does that mean?
(It was a noise complaint)
Just guessing, and you don’t mention a location, but some agencies use different color paper for reports of property damage vs. assault for example. In your area perhaps yellow is for reports that don’t need followup by detectives?
That would certainly be lingo from an individual department, not something that is standard in law enforcement.
I would guess that “wrote a yellow” means a verbal or written warning, but that’s only a guess.
Yellow typically means warnings, so it would also be my guess that they gave a verbal or written warning to the occupant rather than an actual ticket or made an arrest.
