Political Violence Hit The Nashville Highways. Newslink

Liberal Obama Obstructionist rear ended by Forward Thinking Republican!

Are you wearing a monocle and a top hat?

All of you, knock it off. I’m not going to sort out who started it, or whose remarks should be considered insults, or who’s junior-modding – I’m just going to tell each and every one of you to knock it off.

If someone wants to start a different type of thread in either the Pit or GD, you’d be more than welcome to – but while this thread is in MPSIMS and still open, keep it civil.

If somebody bumps the back of my car intentionally I’m gonna hit the brake. I won’t slam the pedal down but I’ll slow down as fast as I safely can. If he wants to keep pushing that’s his choice but if he is going to spin me out I’d rather it happen at a slower speed. The last thing I want to do is hit the gas and make the inevitable wreck that much more spectacular.

A random bullet hits the office of the most powerful GOP representative? Highly unlikely.

From the linked article:

*Duren told News 2 that Weisiger honked his horn at him for awhile, as Duren stopped at a stop sign.

Once he started driving again, down Blair Boulevard, towards his home, he said, “I looked in the rear view mirror again, and this same SUV was speeding, flying up behind me, bumped me.”

Duren said he applied his brake and the SUV smashed into the back of his car.*

If I’m Duren, in that scenario, with a child in the car, I think my first impulse would be to minimize what appears to be an inevitable impact. I’m not a physics guy, but I think the impact would be worse if my foot is on the brake. Seems like if the car is free to roll with the impact, some of that force oughta sorta not hurt as much…as long as there’s nothing in front of me to hit.

You know how police are, always backing up the liberal agenda.

Neat trick, then, to throw off the cops by firing into the air and managing to angle it so that it came down through the window of his office.

Sorry.

The guy’s already hit you once, what are you gonna do, gun it and start some Hollywood chase? Like I said, don’t slam on the brakes, that would be dumb and if the guy in question did it that’s a mistake. But I am going to start slowing down and I’m going to do it as fast as I think I can do it safely.

It didn’t hit his office. It hit the building in which his office was located. The bullet came down almost vertically, and while it broke the glass, it didn’t make it through the blinds.

You can believe the police report, or you can belive Fox News. Your choice on how to be informed.

Depends on traffic and terrain. I’d be looking for somewhere to get off the road in a defensible position if at all possible. I need to protect the child from unknown danger, so I need to be somewhere I can whip out the cell phone and call 911 fast. If one or more targets get out of the other vehicle, I need to de-ass my vehicle and lock the keys in it before they get to me, then fight them until the cops arrive or I’m dead, whichever comes first.

The political climate here is exceptionally bitter.

This was not just road rage.

It was 4:30 pm in a residential area near a University. If you look at the street and area in question you’ll see his options were pretty much to stay on the street, or drive into someone’s yard. The yards there don’t look particularly big.

I’m not an expert on the martial arts, but unless you’re packing my assumption is that if a guy is trying to hit you with his SAV, you’re probably better off inside your vehicle.

My welfare is not the issue. I want to protect the child, either by drawing his fire, or leading the SUV away from the car. If the child stays safe until the police have the guy in custody, I’ve done my job.

I can’t say I’m all that impressed with the Monday morning quarterbacking going on here. “Why if I was in that situation I’d have done such and such in order to protect my child blah blah blah.” I’ve been driving for 30 years and have no race car or stunt car training, and know that adrenaline starts to flow when a person thinks he’s being attacked by a car and driver deliberately coming at him like that. Expecting the victim to behave rationally, or knowing if he should speed up or slow down, is expecting a bit much, I’d say.

It never occurred to you that the bullet deflected off of something into the building? Is it common practice for people in Richmond to shoot guns in the air?

You mean this Fox report? All I did was question the likelihood of someone firing in the air multiplied by the likelihood of it hitting the office building of the highest ranking GOP member.

  1. I didn’t post the link, douchebag, I’m not the OP.
  2. Slowing down or trying to stop is a perfectly normal thing to doin a confusing and dangerous traffic situation.
  3. Blaming the victim is douchey and irrelevant.
  4. I’ll question whatever the fuck I want.
