I had the same conversation with my mother a few years back, novacaine…
…and she was shocked (despite all of the “Scared Straight” alarmist proselytizing freak-outs she put me through as a kid) that I hadn’t done any illegal drugs other than pot (and alcohol, when I was underage)… :eek:
I’ve tried:
alcohol (2-3 drinks/week)
pot (2 times in my life. Just didn’t do much for me)
mushrooms are legal here, but not for long, so I guess I’ll have to give them a try this summer.
I drink occasionally. Not very often, though I DID go to a wine-tasting last night. I’m still unsure as to whether I actually enjoy the stuff.
I’ve never done any other drugs, never even been really tempted. I DO think, though, that they should be legalized and taxed accordingly. Most of my friends have at least smoked pot.
Anything available that did not require injections.
Shrooms and MDA were my faves other than ETOH and pot which were essentially basic food groups.
Right now I am a week into what I intend to be a longterm if not permanent attempt to not drink alcohol, seeing as I have repeatedly failed any attempt at moderation.
I have one friend who always has pot. I look forward to getting high when I see him - mainly for golf, maybe 10 times a year.

Ah, dextromethorphan hydrobromide… a cough suppressant that is, in actual fact, a dissociative along the lines of K.
I tried it a couple of times. Once I glugged an entire bottle of generic Robitussin. When the stuff kicked in, man. Unlike any other buzz or trip I’ve had before. I got the “robo shits” - basically I cacked my bowels out for about twenty minutes solid (or at least it felt like twenty minutes). Then I was walking home through the park and I felt like every step I took was springing me high into the air. I get home and my roommate at the time (bitch) tells me my mother called and that it was important and that something bad had happened. So I called her back. My uncle had died of cancer. So there I was, tripping out of my mind, having to talk to my mother and be all philosophical.
Tried it again and sat down for my umpteenth viewing of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Robo shits. BAD robo shits. Never doing the stuff again.
I’ve also done codeine extraction from OTC pills. Interesting, but generally a waste of time. When you have to set up funnels and filters and shit just to get a buzz… well, stick to booze.
I never did any illegal drugs, and now that I’m much closer to 30 than 20 and married I wish I did do some experimenting when I had the chance.

Downers add much to my life experience… but I take them for medical (and sometimes recreational) reasons. They’re great before smoking pot - takes care of any possible pot paranoia.

Everything but heroin, I used to be extrememly shy. Drugs did make my life better (you’ll never see that one on an after school special) I do little but drink nowadays, but I wouldn’t mind shrooming one more time, or frying but god knows I see enough stuff sober I don’t need the buildup.
Over the last 35 years just about all the above mentioned. Nowadays I’m big on red wine, smoke dope on a regular basis, and toot the occasional line of coke. Did anybody out there ever get into Romilar. If memory serves, it’s a cough suppressant based on Belladonna. I did loads when I was in Kabul in 1967. You could just walk into the pharmacy and buy it. Boy, had some wierd days on that stuff.
Hmm. The usual “gateway drugs”, and the more common hallucinogens, upper and downer pharms, NO2 a few times. Stopped taking much just as X, MDMA, etc were getting common. Early on, though, I made a conscious decision that opiates were not going to be in the line-up. I also have never been been a cigarette smoker, which strikes many as odd. I have my standards.
As I get older my occasional experiences with weed (in the Netherlands on trips, of course) for some reason are more often BAD, to the point that I think after last summer I am officially done with it.
