Poll: Are you afraid of ISIS?

Just a gut reaction, when you see that question. Are you afraid of ISIS, ir ISIL, or the Islamist State or whatever the media is calling them today?

Not particularly. There’s pretty much zero chance they could ever carve out a viable state in the long run.

No, they’re very far away.

No, I’m more concerned about crossing the road or getting ill. I live in the Middle East, in a country which is under a Red Alert now and is surrounded by conflict, and the only concern about ISIS I have is people returning to my home country and carrying out some form of atrocious act. Not that I have any more intel on the subject, just that I’m concerned for my home.

Me personally? No. I’m afraid they’ll inspire some attacks that will inspire our government to take action, which will almost certainly be the kind of action that makes the problem worse.

No, I’m not. Mostly because I live in a place that I SERIOUSLY doubt they’d want to infiltrate or attack. But that doesn’t keep me from believing that they’re a bunch of backwards-thinking evil {blankety-blanks} that I hope ALL get to someday have a “first-person” meeting with the devil. The sooner, the better.

Afraid fo rmyself or my loved ones? No. The chances of any of us dying from bee stings is much higher than our being killed by terrorists, and I do not live in fear of bees.

Afraid that they are going to make a political change that adversely affects me or my country? No, not really. The world has been in an unstable state before and will always be unstable (for given values of “instability.”)

I expect ISIS to make a stir, kill a handful more people, get political commentators in a tizzy, and then fade into the world violence background noise again.

Not for myself, nor for the western world, but I am extremely sad because of the harm, pain, and misery they’re causing.

I’m far more afraid of local street gangs, local white supremacists, local science deniers…and earthquakes. Damn afraid of earthquakes.

*&#^ mis-clicked “yes” and realized as I was submitting. One less yes vote or an expression of subconscious fear.

No, but Captain Marvel, scares the shit out of me. First he’s a boy, then he’s a man, then he’s a boy again.

Annoyed would be a more accurate term.

I have to say yes. Not afraid in the sense that I think they’ll sneak in my house and kill me in my sleep some night, but afraid in the way I am afraid of all fanatics.

I saw Sugar Ray Leonard once on Dave Letterman’s show. Dave made a gesture like he was going to punch Sugar Ray in the face and Sugar Ray didn’t even react. Dave said something like “You don’t even have a defense for that move” Sugar Ray says “Some things just aren’t threatening, Dave.” That’s kind of the way I feel about ISIS or ISIL, or whatever they’re calling themselves these days. Nuisances really.

I doubt they’re coming to Canada any time soon. But I am glad we’re fighting them over there in Iraq and Syria.

No. I don’t believe in Egyptian deities.

No with one small disclaimer; I fear what idiot move the United States may make using that as their excuse.
