I’ve had some fruit cake (made with the real stuff) that was really good. What scares and skeeves me out is that candied fruit stuff. Just exactly what is that stuff? :eek:
My Sister makes some every year. They are good. I have never had a store bought one that was worth eating.
I would rather just have a good pumkin bread or Banana Nut Bread.

Why post this? If you wanted to close it you could have closed it. It’s not a cross post, though. Your predecessor moved my poll to the recipe forum, for reasons of his/her own. What did you want me to do to overcome that? I’m serious, just tell me and I’ll do it. You have my blessings if you want to just delete the other thread entirely. That would cure the “cross post” dilemma for you. Or move it back here and drop this one, or just cut them both and ban me forever. Honestly, you mods can suck the fun out of the simplest things. IMHO.

As per the poll: not really, though some recipes can have me swooning if they’re done the right way. (Or that may just be from the eggnog. I’m not sure. little Santa party hat is crooked)
Are they the candied cherries? If so, I can take or leave them, myself. I prefer a fruit cake without 'em.
Fruit cakes can be quite dry, though. Not my favourite kind of cake (which is banana).

I moved the original thread because it had gone into discussion about food. Such threads belong in Cafe Society. Read the forum descriptions, please. You would still have gotten answers to your question. Your decision to start another thread without contacting a moderator about it was not a good one, as it was a second post of basically the same OP.

Fruitcake? Not a cake with fruit in it…like Pineapple Upside Down Cake, but actual comes-in-a-tin fruitcake? I wouldn’t eat that crap with your mouth.
Fruitcake makes no sense. It’s not fruit it’s not cake it’s not candy. Give me any of those instead if you want.
A fruitcake is not meant to be enjoyed. It is meant to be passed from family to family every Christmas, spending the intervening time in hibernation on a pantry shelf.
