I never used to, but the water here sucks (it’s like showering in pool water) so I’ve had to change my routine. Two passes with a 2-in-1 shampoo takes care of me.
Why don’t you shave your ass hair instead of shampooing it?
And that’s the only reason for the second lather, too. The first round of lathering will (normally) remove about 99% of all the oil and dead skin in your hair… this very same oil keeps the shampoo from building up a nice lather. Once it’s all gone, the second lathering builds up nice and foamy, and is more psychologically appealing.
Is it worth the extra shampoo usage to feel nicer? Sure, why not?
It’s the only way to get the dye out quickly enough!
My hair is currently blue and I have a bar-mitzvah to go to in 2 weeks.
Always. In fact this morning was the only time in donkeys’ years I haven’t, and that was because I was forced to use a bar of soap.
I also can’t use any shampoo more than two times running without my hair going all nasty. Usually I have three or four on the go at once.
I have what they call greasy hair. You’d think they’d change it to “fertile scalp” or something, but no… I’m greasy.
Am I the only one singing the Phoebe song? “Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. As needed.”
No, only if my hair is really nasty. In fact, sometimes I won’t even lather, just rinse. Shampooing feels good and it is definitely needed if I’ve got goo in my hair, or that hang-out-with-the-smokers-too-long stench, but it is one of the worst things you can do to your hair. The detergents do a lot of damage.
Only if I’ve been sick the day before and consequently didn’t take a shower. Otherwise, once is enough.
I barely have time to lather. Repeating is reserved for those I’ve-not-showered-in-a-week camping trips after people move away from you at fast food greasyspoons.
Never.

I’m certainly not saying this applies to anyone in this thread, but although I don’t remember the whole joke the punchline had to do with someone being so ugly he had to shave his ass hair and walk backwards.
Guess you had to hear the whole thing.

Not only do I not repeat, I’ve taken to only washing my hair every other day, and rinsing it the day between. (I have dryish hair and this seems to give me less frizzy hair every other day. I also work at home; I could probably get away with washing it even less than that as it probably doesn’t have much chance to get dirty.)
Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I was, indeed, singing this in my head and I could NOT remember where I had heard it.
Never. Not once.
I recently saw a magazine article promising women special tips for how to save time in the morning, and not bothering to repeat was one of them. I wondered how many people actually bothered with this in the first place, and apparently, not many do.
Not intentionally. I have, on two occasions, thought I bought conditioner, and learned as it lathered up that I should have looked more closely at the bottle before heading to the checkout…
Only when I don’t feel well. If my sinuses are all stopped up, I will re-lather my hair once more just to stay in the steamy water for a while longer. This morning, I did. I also used up most of a tank of hot water. Ahhhhhhh…ah…ahhhhh…CHOO!
no. i lick, lick, and repeat. DUH

I never repeat. Once is good enough for me.
However, when I bathe my dog, I always “repeat”. The first lathering doesn’t get her fur clean enough. Took me a while to figure that out…
Since I shampoo every day (score another one for the “oily [sub]not “greasy”, at least according to P&G[/sub] hair” trait), I do not feel the need to repeat. Nor to use that “rinse” stuff.
Nope. I shampoo my hair only as often and as much as it needs it, which for me is one pass through, about once a week. And my hair looks and smells just fine, thank you.
