Ditto 100%. I also wouldn’t trust her to not delete things she though were “junk” that weren’t, and vice versa. I’ve had my e-mail address since long before I met her so there’s no way I’d abandon it. We already run into problems when a contractor or friend sends an e-mail to one of our accounts over another; having a shared one would be a logistical nightmare.
My sister and brother-in-law have a shared account and it drives me nuts. I’ve given up e-mailing them because he would check it at work and then never pass on any messages/questions/correspondence I was sending to her specifically. I also don’t feel I can be totally free with a friend if I know they’re spouse may be reading it as well. If they want to share–fine, but I’m not writing for mass consumption. If it’s something I want both of them to read, I’ll cc: the other, too.
